We were delighted to participate in the INTERTANKO Seafarers’ Seminar held in Mumbai in late 2024. With around 300 attendees from the maritime industry, the Seminar lined up industry experts to share their insights on various topics.
Of particular note, Mr Shyam Jagannathan, India’s Director General of Shipping, highlighted India’s role in the maritime industry and outlined the future of Indian shipping. Dr Nirupama Mankad from the Sailor’s Society delivered an engaging talk on seafarer wellbeing, and Dr Phil Belcher, Marine Director at INTERTANKO, provided a comprehensive security update.
SIRE 2.0 was a major focus of the Seminar, where Abner Carvalho, Marine Director of our Singapore Office and Vetting Committee Member of INTERTANKO, Capt Aaron Cooper, Mr Mohd Fahmi Niza M, Capt Frans Ubaghs and Mr Sokratis Tzanetos presented their observations and knowledge on the inspection regime.
Proudly sponsored by Anglo-Eastern, the event provided great opportunities for seafarers to connect with key figures in the tanker segment and to discuss topics of mutual interest. Thank you to INTERTANKO and everyone who joined and contributed to this successful event!

At Anglo-Eastern, we believe that innovation is the key to a sustainable, more efficient maritime industry. It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Marcel Liedts, a key architect of Anglo-Eastern and a true legend in the world of ship management.
Marcel joined Anglo-Eastern in the mid-1980s and played an instrumental role in shaping the company we are today. As a former Chief Engineer, he brought a deep respect and care for seafarers, ensuring they remained at the heart of everything we do. Even after retiring from day-to-day operations, he continued to guide us as a valued board member.
Marcel was larger than life - witty, sharp, passionate, and generous. He lived life on his own terms, unbound by convention, and his originality left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of working with him.
As Peter Cremers once said, “Anglo-Eastern and its globally recognised reputation would not be the same were it not for Marcel.” His legacy is immense, and his absence will be felt deeply across the industry.
Our thoughts are with Marcel’s family during this difficult time.
Rest in peace, Marcel. You will be missed, but your memory will forever live on in the heart of Anglo-Eastern and the maritime community.

In 2025, the reporting landscape is set to evolve with the EU’s phased implementation of the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) initiated in 2023, alongside the introduction of the new EU Supply Chain Act also known as the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD).
While sustainability reporting frameworks align with evolving regulatory demands, we understand that their relevance varies among stakeholders. Regardless of perspective, accurate data remains at the core of compliance, operational decision-making, and stakeholder communication. At Anglo-Eastern, our goal is to assist clients in navigating these changes through robust data solutions tailored to your specific reporting needs and priorities.
This issue of Foresights summarises the upcoming expectations of sustainability reporting as it shifts towards compliance and becoming a vital component of corporate strategy in driving innovation and improving operational efficiency while meeting stakeholder expectations.

Our new Singapore office is thoughtfully designed to enhance teamwork and spark innovation, serving as a platform for operational excellence across our global network. A heartfelt thank you to our incredible team and partners for their dedication and hard work in making this vision a reality.

It is an honour to once again be featured in pole position on the list of Top 10 Shipmanagers by Lloyd's List this year.
Led by our CEO Bjørn Højgaard, 2024 has been one where we have continued to reaffirm our commitment to shaping a better maritime future, where we have seen growth of our fleet via the acquisition of Euronav’s ship management business on top of new and existing partnerships, but never at the expense of doing a proper job.
Our 50th year in business has brought new milestones including our first vessel entirely manned by officer graduates of our maritime academy, and our involvement in trials for future fuels including ammonia.
We are also very much keeping our eyes on the horizon, with 140 newbuildings set for delivery (as of October) including 92 dual-fuel vessels across various fuel types.
Of course, none of this would be possible without our people. In saying this, our training programmes are being expanded to address potential skill shortages and ensure we are able to reskill and upskill to meet the demands of an increasingly complex and challenging industry.
Thank you again to everyone who has supported us in our journey, and to Lloyd’s List for recognising us for our efforts and determination.

At Anglo-Eastern, we are committed to exploring how we can contribute most effectively in aligning with decarbonisation goals being implemented across regions and industries. While we remain fuel agnostic, we are proactively building our capabilities across fuel types to cater to the preferences of our business partners – both in terms of alternative marine fuel selection, and in the management of specialist vessels that transport these fuels as cargo.
Most recently, we are excited to highlight our growing expertise in LNG as a case in point - covering training of our eligible crew pool, LNG cargo handling, LNG vessel refits, LNG newbuild project management, and bunkering services in addition to the complete management of any type of LNG and/or floating storage regasification unit (FSRU).
As with all fuel types, there are challenges that need to be overcome and we are here to help ship owners identify the right way forward for each of them, while also providing an understanding of developments in and across maritime.

Marc-Henry Cruise Holdings, Joint Owner/Operator of Four Seasons Yachts has appointed Anglo-Eastern as its ship management partner for their ultra-luxury yacht, Four Seasons I.
We will oversee the technical management of the vessel, which is under construction at Fincantieri’s shipyard in Ancona, Italy and is scheduled to commence commercial operations in 2026.
This landmark collaboration marks a significant step in our growth as a premier provider of ship management services, now spanning into the luxury yachting category. By uniting leaders in hospitality and ship management, we’re creating a one-of-a-kind experience at sea.

We were honoured to receive the Special Achievement Award at the IBJ Awards 2024 in Antwerp last week. Hosted by the International Bulk Journal, the community gathered to salute excellence in the maritime bulk industry, with Anglo-Eastern being represented by our Chairman, Peter Cremers, and our CEO, Bjørn Højgaard, together with notable guests and representatives from our Group.
On accepting the award, Bjorn highlighted 5 key themes that resonate with our 50 years in ship management and have driven us to where we are today: people that believe in what we stand for, a passion and drive to do a proper job, a belief that outsourcing to third parties will become the norm – especially amidst rising complexity in our industry, an ability to commit to the long-haul, and lastly, an ability to secure contracts.
Thank you to IBJ for this honour, to all our people, and to all of you for being a part of our journey. We look forward to continuing this wonderful journey with you all.

At Anglo-Eastern, we have long been mindful of protecting and preserving marine life and the eco-systems associated with our industry.
We are delighted to announce that we have recently joined the League of Whale Guardians who have developed a proven methodology that translates into minimal impact of vessels on whales via established Whale Guardians routes.
Whale Guardians is the international programme for the avoidance of ship strikes on whales, focusing on establishing approved traffic separation schemes and speed reductions to preserve whale populations. Preventing unintentional vessel strikes is critical for the survival of some endangered whale populations, especially the world’s largest animal, the blue whale.

Last week was an eventful week for the maritime industry. Our colleagues, Martin Rowe, Aalok Sharma, and Capt Shrinath Hegde were invited to participate in a series of events as panelists and keynote speakers during .
Martin Rowe, our Vice President of Business Development, shared his insights as a panelist at Hong Kong - UK Shipping Forum and Xinde Marine Forum, discussing “Counterparty compliance in a complex trading environment” and “Shipping finance and investment” respectively. He shared the importance of maintaining a safe and supportive environment for seafarers through risk mitigation, highlighting our work with classification societies and engine manufacturers to ensure our training helps crew and shore personnel support owners in meeting IMO decarbonisation goals through a "maritime just transition."
In the latter panel, Mr Rowe drew attention to the current high-interest-rate environment and shipping’s need to deliver better long-term returns to attract investors. Many vessels in the market are not fit for purpose and hinder returns for responsible financiers. A more efficient mechanism is needed to retire or recycle these substandard vessels.
Aalok Sharma, our Group Head of Training spoke at the session about during the Green Fuels Transition for International Shipping Workshop, covering “How to prepare for a safe bunkering operations with a focus on crew training and preparedness from an operator’s perspective”. He shared his experience and insights on this front, mentioning the need for collaboration as the industry prepares for fuel transitions. He emphasised that it is important to think outside the box when preparing training engagement tools that are relevant and can be scaled up for onboard deployment.
Capt Shrinath Hegde, Director of Operations at Anglo-Eastern Tanker Management, spoke at the World Maritime Merchant Forum’s thematic forum titled “Tanker transport & safety management”. He shared the progression of technology in shipping across the past five centuries, with an emphasis on safety enhancements, navigation improvements, and the integration of AI technology. The adoption of AI-powered camera systems on vessels facilitates real-time monitoring, early hazard detection, and predictive analysis to bolster safety and operational efficiency.

We are excited to share Anglo-Eastern's recent success at the Kowloon Cricket Club (KCC) Corporate 6s Cup 2024, one of the most anticipated tournaments in Hong Kong’s cricket scene. This year’s event marked a significant milestone, as we became the first shipping company to lift the award since its inception in 2007.
Our team displayed remarkable skill, unity and sportsmanship in every match, navigating through intense competition with determination, strategy, and a heartfelt passion for cricket.
Congratulations to our dedicated players and supporters for this memorable achievement! Here's to many more successes on and off the field!
