A 2-0 loss against Solis A in the HK Cup Tournament

A gutting result but the ladies fought hard with a team of 8, holding 0-0 until half time, having defended many short corners. Goals were conceded in Q3 and Q4 where DHC also created great opportunities but were just a bit puffed out 😮‍💨

Unfortunately, this is officially the end of the league but onto summer hockey we go!

Dutch Men's B with their well earned cup and medals for winning the league (Div 5). They also make it through to the quarter finals for the HK Hockey Cup.

Last weekend, the committee met to say a belated thank you to Fleur for the incredible work she has put into the club since the summer of 2022 as Chairlady, and as Kids Convenor this year.

Despite her many commitments, Fleur dedicated herself to ensuring the club ran smoothly with her exceptional organisational skills and coordination. She supported numerous junior events on Saturday mornings, all while playing in her own league matches later in the day. Being Chairlady is a feat on its own: she handled sponsors, organised new kit, arranged the coaches, helped with our website revamp and we honestly don’t know how she managed the Kids Convenor role in addition, but we are so grateful she did!

The Chair and Vice-Chair roles have been handed over to Matthijs and Nina, who have been doing a great job already in their 9 months into the job (we told you it was belated!). We also warmly welcome Marinda back into Hong Kong as our new Kids Convenor!

A disappointing 2-1 loss against KCC B 🥲

Although Dutch were 1-0 up (goal by shortie, by Jo, Beth assist) for the majority of the game, KCC fought until the very end and got 2 quick goals in the last minutes of the game 😭.

Gutting but we now look towards our final game of the season next week!

Last Sunday, our U12 Youth Team joined Kowloon Cricket Club’s Hockey Tournament.

As always, this tournament is a highlight of the year, a fun-filled day with skilful hockey and excellent organisation by our hosts. This tournament is unique because all games are played on a grass pitch, giving this competition a different experience.

With a good practice session the day before, our team arrived perfectly ready to show off their skills. Measuring 25°C with humidity close to 100%, our team had three games to play before the cup finals. Our team made it to the finals with a lot of sweat, team effort, great strategy by Coach Pius, and some excellent passes. The last game of the day was closely watched by many spectators, and this nerve-racking final ended with a 1:0 win for the Dutch Hockey Club.

We are beyond proud of our players and team and so impressed with everyone’s efforts.

They played their final game against Elite C with a 1-1 draw but their prior consecutive streaks meant they took home the league table win by a clear margin.

Well deserved as they put in the hard work and training. Next season sees them move up to division 4🤞🏻

The win means the ladies have currently edged into 1st position on the league table, with two matches remaining 😬🤞🏻
