π π± This Valentine's Day, let's show our bodies some love with choices to eat, move, rest and chill, that are good for ourselves.
In particular with food, let's dive into food choices that are as sweet as they are smart.
How's that you say?
π Embrace the Cocoa: Valentine's Day screams chocolate, but who says it can't be healthy?
Lean in to dark chocolate that doesn't contain dairy (skip the white, milk and conventional chocolate with dairy). Find a local, sustainable brand to show some love.
And if you're making some chocolate brownies or a cake at home, lower the fat content by swapping out any chocolate solids for cocoa powder in your homemade desserts.
Cocoa powder packs more flavor without the added fats, making it a heart-healthy option.
It's actually got a stronger chocolate flavor and it's loaded with antioxidants too!
π Pick Plants Over Processed: On a day that's all about hearts, let's keep ours beating stronger by choosing plant-based dishes.
Whether it's a romantic dinner or a cozy meal at home, opt for recipes that are vibrant with vegetables, grains, and legumes. They're not just good for your heart, but they also add a splash of color and variety to your plate. How about a beetroot risotto since they're as red as the day itself?
π Hydrate with a Twist: Instead of toasting with sugary drinks or alcohol, get creative with sparkling water mixed with just a splash of 100% fruit juice.
Garnish with fresh berries or a slice of lime for that extra flair.
It's a refreshing way to stay hydrated, cut down on unnecessary sugars, and still feel like you're celebrating in style.
Here's to loving ourselves with every bite.
Ready to put that love into action? π
Share your healthiest, most delicious Valentine's treat or dish in the comments.
Let's spread the love by showing how tasty and rewarding eating for our health can be.
Can't wait to see your creations!

This month is a great time to rethink our relationship with sleep - and to us foodies it means 'here's to dinner moderation and meal mindfulness'! π½οΈβ¨
Remember, a light supper, simple carbohydrates control, and some hydration timing can lead you to a dream-filled night. ππ€
Spirits restraint? It's a yes for a serene sleep!
Remember, we're all on a journey of self-love and better health....sleep is often my most difficult health pillar to practice consistently. π± π

π± "Eat plants, avoid meat!"
New guidelines by the Diabetes and Nutrition Study Group (DNSG) of the EASD, a game-changer, published in the prestigious Journal Diabetology.

Sometimes we do eat out π and even though itβs often more challenging to find healthy, tasty options, restaurants are adding more plant-based options all the time.
Itβs a short learning curve to navigate menus, picking the optimal choice given what there is to choose fromβ¦.a large part of eating out tho, involves just enjoying the company of those around you, and not letting the food be the star of the experience.
We loved the avocado (fish-less) sushi and the veggie pad Thai we had catching up with family last nightβ¦.oh, and the dairy-free mousse (no photo π«)
