Own a studio? Bring Scolio-Pilates® to your space. 🧡

Clients with scoliosis are already walking through your door. Hosting a Scolio-Pilates® module means your local instructors and physios can train with us in person, right where they teach.

When you host, you:
✦ Position your studio as the local go-to for scoliosis care
✦ Give your team specialized, career-building education without travel
✦ Welcome movement professionals from your region into your space
✦ Join a global community of studios supporting people with scoliosis

You provide the space and the equipment. We bring the method, the educator, and the support to fill the room.

Interested in hosting a module in your city? Comment STUDIO and we’ll send you our host application form.

Quick question for you 🧡

Take one normal breath right now. Don’t change it, just notice it.

Where did it go first?
✦ Chest
✦ Ribs
✦ Belly

Tell us in the comments. With scoliosis, the answer is often not what you’d expect, and there’s a reason for that. More soon.

Step into our ScolioPilates practice, getting strong with a fusion 💚🔩

This lovely exercise from our ScolioPilates®️principal educator Suzanne Koucheravy ( ) has been a favourite recently to keep building upper body strength post spinal fusion.

Sometimes it’s a juggling act with balancing enough upper-body exercises to keep improving strength, while also not overdoing it during flare ups of neck and shoulder pain.

This exercise has been great for many reasons:
⚪️The support from the wall offers a nice closed-chain base to help find alignment without overloading the neck
⚪️We can focus on individual corrections for each side - bending the right elbow back to bring the convexity forward or lighting up out of the left concave side etc
⚪️ We’ve opted for a theraband that’s strong enough to offer some resistance without being so heavy we start compensating from the wrong muscles

With a spinal fusion it’s important to keep the spaces above and below the fusion strong, they’ve got an awful lot of stabilising to do!

Hip Glide + Scoliosis? 💚🔩

A “hip glide” happens often with scoliosis. It’s where the pelvis shifts to one side of your axial line, a sidewards translation.
Sometimes that’s in the same direction as your lumbar curve, sometimes it’s the opposite.
In ScolioPilates®️ it’s one of the ways we help differentiate between a 3-curve and a 4-curve scoliosis.

For a lot of us with a hip glide, there’s a noticeable weakness in the lateral hip muscles of the same side.

Finding a more optimal alignment can help us strengthen those hip muscles to better support our spines above.

In this clip:
- We feel three pressure points of the foot on the floor, like a camera tripod
- We have used a yoga block to help stabilise the lower leg, providing better proprioception
- The hand on the outside of the hip provides the right feedback control the gliding pattern and engage the correct muscles

Do you notice a hip glide in your own scoliosis?
Which way does it go?

Here’s the thing nobody warns you about.

You arrange the pillows. You lie on the right side. The wedges are exactly where they should be. And your body still has something to say about it. The low back won’t settle. One hip is talking. Your shoulders are still holding the shape of your desk.

That’s not a pillow problem.

Positioning gets you comfortable. Movement gets you to sleep. 🧡

So we made Scolio-Sleep: Prepare Your Body for Rest, and it isn’t a sleep class. You’ll be moving: nerve glides, dynamic stretching, rib breathing, and full-body ease, all designed to quiet the chatter before you ever get into bed.

Five videos. 2 hours 29 minutes. Yours to keep. Four of them need nothing but a mat and your usual props.

Comment REST and we’ll send you the link. 🧡

If we had a nickel for every time someone asked us how to sleep with scoliosis, we’d have funded a very nice studio by now. 🧡

So first, the thing nobody tells you: you will not make your scoliosis worse while sleeping. You can’t undo your progress overnight, and you were never meant to hold a correction for eight hours. Get your sleep. Then, if you’d like to refine things a little, swipe through.

Five of our fifteen Scolio-Sleep Do’s & Don’ts are here: which side to lie on and why, what belongs between your knees, what belongs under your legs, and the two things we’d steer you away from (including the honest answer about mattresses).

The other ten are on the blog, including where your wedges go at night and a two-minute wind-down you can do against a wall tonight.

Comment SLEEP and we’ll send it straight to you. 🧡

Congratulations, Scolio-Pilates® practitioners!

Module 3 complete, and what a milestone. This crop of practitioners now brings an even deeper level of precision to their work: reading the spine in 3D, applying specific, three-dimensional corrections, and helping their clients train smart, not just hard.

To every one of you who put in the hours, the practice, and the patience: this community is stronger because of you. 🧡

Wherever you’re based, someone nearby just got a little closer to finding real, evidence-based scoliosis care.

Congratulations, and welcome to the next level of the journey.

A gentle reminder to do something good for your spine today 💚🔩

That doesn’t have to be much.

That might mean doing something to find a little more length in your spine

Or perhaps something to build some strength

It could also just mean allowing yourself to take it easy, take a few breaths and give yourself permission to rest.

Your spine will thank you

ScolioPilates®️ Strong Wrists 💚🔩

A quick reminder to think about your wrist alignment in many of your ScolioPilates®️ upper body exercises.

The alignment of your wrist can impact where we feel the load when working with resistance, like the theraband in this video.

In this example of “Pulling Taffy” we’re demonstrating the gesture set up for a Right Thoracic Convexity. The right elbow pulling back reminds you to expand the ribcage forward on the convex side. We’re trying to keep the shoulder girdle open in front (like a smile in the collarbone)

Making sure the wrists are in a more neutral alignment will help take loads out of the wrist joints and send a bit more of that effort into more productive places.

If you struggle with your grip you can try making loops in the end of your bands or working with props that have more ergonomic handles.
