Bristol Beaufighter Wreck ~ Malta 🇲🇹
A piece of WWII history resting upside down at 38 m on the sandy seabed off St. Julian’s.
On March 17, 1943, this RAF Beaufighter suffered mechanical failure shortly after takeoff and was forced to ditch into the Mediterranean. Both crew members survived. Today, almost 80 years later, the aircraft still rests on the bottom, with its wings, fuselage, engines, landing gear and one propeller remarkably recognizable.
One of the wrecks we explored during our Malta trip with Wells Expeditions 🇲🇹🤿
