One of the most fascinating finds on a dive: a shark egg 🦈🥚

Often called a “Mermaid’s Purse”, these leathery egg cases can be found around reefs, seagrass and rocky walls in the Mediterranean, North Sea and Atlantic.

🔦 Shine your dive light behind the case and, if you’re lucky, you might spot the tiny shark developing inside — sometimes even moving!

👀 Look, don’t touch. Never remove or squeeze the egg case. Its tendrils keep it secured and help provide the embryo with oxygen.
