in 2⃣0⃣1⃣9⃣, the very first EUSA - European University Sports Association European Universities Beach Handball Championship kicked off in Zagreb, Croatia 🤾⁣

6⃣ female and 1⃣0⃣ male university teams took part, with the University of Barcelona winning the women's competition and the University of Zagreb winning the men's competition 🏆⁣⁣⁣

Dear athletes, you have written the first pages of new sports stories

This championship and all of you will be remembered always. You have shown your play, strokes, and perseverance as it was time for you to get on the line. Now you are part of the sports university team, that is growing every year with more and more quality postage. You've brought new competitions, new tricks, new stories to Zagreb. The first gold of female from Spain and Croats, the silver of Serbs, male Croats and Spanish will remain always on Jarun.

Jarun will keep all your windsurfing, songs, dances and support. The first game was played on this sand, the first hit scored, the first gold won. You were the first one on this sand. Bring beautiful moments to your country and be proud that you are the first participant in the European beach handball championship.

First and historical European Universities Beach Handball Championship ended in a thrilling Closing Ceremony near Jarun Lake in Zagreb. Almost 150 participants representing 16 Universities from 8 countries took part in this year’s edition of the event, the 1st in EUSA history.

The first titles of Europe’s handball champions are in the hands of the female athletes at the University of Barcelona and the male athletes of the University of Zagreb. We have completed the first edition of the European Championship in this summer sport to the golden conquerors. With the trophies and medals, goals and defenses, fun and frightening, we have come to the end of this Championship.

Volunteering is much more than just traveling. Volunteering in Zagreb during the EUSA Beach Handball reminds staying in a huge utopian summer camp. You cannot take a step without a wide smile on your face because of the people surrounding you. Organizers, athletes, and volunteers are here to make every day special and to turn every single moment into a miracle.

We talked to three volunteers from three different countries – Rita from Portugal, Vanja from Serbia and Mihaela from Croatia – and found out what EUSA Beach Handball meant to them.
