It’s week 7 of my weekly bins that I make for my newly turned two year old to do at the table while I homeschool my oldest. These bins are intended to not only entertain her, but to also work on practical life skills like scooping and pouring and fine motor skills. Most of the items can be found at the dollar tree or you can use things you have at home too! This week we have: 1. Cover the Arctic animals- you can use any animals for these and a muffin pan and it’s just a fun way to work on scooping, pouring, and language building. “You found the penguin” etc. 2. Snowy construction- Pom Poms (or cotton balls) are huge hits over here, and so are trucks so I thought I’d combine the two! Plus it’s a sensory bin that isn’t too messy so I don’t mind if she dumps it. 3. Pasta fine motor- last week she LOVED the Pom Poms in the ornament activity so I thought I’d repeat it with pasta this week (if it’s not broke, don’t fix it!). She’s also shown interest in threading lately so I’ll see if she wants to thread the pasta but it might prove too frustrating so it’s a good chance for me to see where she’s at fine motor skill wise. Also next week we’re taking the week off of homeschooling so I’ll be sharing sensory play/ activity bin essentials instead of three activity ideas so you can start creating your bins at home too! It’s week 3 of our toddler activity bins and wow- why did it take me so long to do these? They always buy me a couple of minutes and I feel like I always kind of have something engaging for my toddler to do while I homeschool. This week we have: 1. Snowman sensory fill- this is just so fun for kids to scoop and pour and make their own little snowmen. My toddler could probably do this all day if I let her- or until she decides she’d rather dump the rice- whichever comes first 🫣😂. 2. If you have the Melissa and Doug icecream set- you know how magical it is for kids so I thought I’d set my little one up with a fun rainbow icecream shop and see what she thinks. 3. When my oldest is doing table work, my toddler insists on joining so this is a fun way for her to do crafts and work on hand eye coordination. Also something about @doadotart markers just appeal to toddlers everywhere! PS- if you want the dot marker pages just comment “holiday”and I’ll send them to you- they’re free!
