UCB emerged victorious in a tense, low-scoring contest as they chased down 126 to beat Budapest Zalmi by four wickets with one over to spare.

Batting first, Zalmi struggled for fluency throughout their innings and could only manage 125/7 in 20 overs. Their innings was anchored by Muhammad Soban Bhutta, who top-scored with a measured 43 not out off 48 balls, striking five boundaries. He received brief support from Muhammad Junaid (22 off 13) and Ullah Shakir (13 off 6), but regular wickets prevented any major partnerships from forming. Extras (21 runs, including 18 wides) lifted the total, but Zalmi were left well short of a competitive score.

UCB’s bowlers maintained steady control, with Muhammad Ali Nawaz (3/30) and Md Rakibul Islam (2/27) doing the bulk of the damage. Troy Mickle was particularly economical, conceding just 15 runs from his four overs.

The chase of 126 was not straightforward. Zalmi’s bowlers fought hard, and when Rana Moaz ripped through the top order with a brilliant spell of 4-1-16-3, UCB found themselves wobbling. Shabaz Ali and Muhammad Junaid added a wicket apiece.

Nevertheless, UCB’s batsmen held their nerve. Troy Mickle (32 off 43) provided the platform, and Jack Murrell (32 off 27) accelerated the innings with timely boundaries. Despite losing wickets at key moments, Anil Pattanaik (15 off 11)* and Robert Ainsworth (11 off 8)* guided UCB home, reaching 126/6 in 19 overs.

Player of the Match

Despite being on the losing side, Rana Moaz (Budapest Zalmi) was named Player of the Match for his outstanding bowling figures of 4-1-16-3, which gave Zalmi hope in defending a modest total.
