Saam Bo Pai Kiu – Háromlépéses Pai Kiu forma

A Saam Bo Pai Kiu első ránézésre egyszerűnek tűnik.

Három lépés.
Letisztult mozdulatok.

• lépés, ami a „motort” áthelyezi

Figyeld a folyamatosságot.
Figyeld a tartást.
Figyeld a visszafogottságot.

Ha egyszerűnek tűnik, az jó jel.

Pont ez a lényege.

5 éves a MyChowGar

5 Years of MyChowGar – Thank You for Walking This Path With Us

Five years ago, MyChowGar started with a simple intention:
to preserve and share authentic Chow Gar training in a way that stays honest, structured, and true to the art.

Over these five years, the program has grown step by step. Today, we can finally say that the MyChowGar program is complete — a coherent system covering forms, internal power, Qigong, and structured progression, built without shortcuts or compromises.

Practitioners from all over the world have trained with us along this path — some at the beginning, others refining work they’ve carried for decades. What connects everyone is the same focus on structure, power, and depth over surface-level technique.

To mark our 5th anniversary, we’re offering a limited anniversary discount on our courses and bundles as a quiet thank-you to everyone who has supported this work so far.

This includes:
• Core Chow Gar hand forms
• Internal power and Qigong training
• Complete QiGong bundles
• A finished, structured program rooted in traditional Southern Chinese methods.

No hype.
No new promises.
Just the same material — made more accessible for a short time.

Thank you for your trust, your practice, and your patience.
We’re looking forward to what the next years will bring — and to continuing this work properly.

Boldog Új Esztendőt!

Happy New Year!

As this year comes to an end, we would like to say thank you.

Thank you for the training, the patience, the questions, and the quiet commitment you bring to this path. Whether your practice was steady or came in waves, your presence in this community matters.

This year also marks an important milestone for us. With The Way of the Mantis, the full program now stands complete — deep, structured, and ready to be practiced for many years to come.

But as always, the real work lives in daily practice.

A traditional thought to carry into the new year:

功不在急,在於日日不斷;

True skill is not built through haste, but through steady, unbroken practice.
When the mind is calm, the path naturally becomes deep.

Wishing you a calm, healthy, and meaningful year ahead.
Let’s keep training.

A Little More Footage From Our Private Sessions With Sifu Wong Keung

We are fortunate to hold a large collection of privately recorded training material with Sifu Wong Keung, and today we’re sharing another short compilation taken from the same session as our previous post.

In contrast to the earlier clip, where Kui Fung demonstrated the complete final sequence of the 3rd form, this footage offers a different perspective: brief, authentic moments of hands-on teaching, with Kui Fung assisting his Sifu, Sifu Wong, as he works with one of his personal students.

In this segment, you see Kui Fung guiding Michael Kaniewski, a martial artist with 42 years of experience, through several of the fundamental power-development methods that Sifu Wong emphasises in his teaching. Michael formally entered Sifu Wong’s school earlier this year through the tea ceremony, recognising the rare opportunity to train under a genuine and deeply respected practitioner of Southern Praying Mantis Kung Fu.

As many know, Sifu Wong Keung carries both Chu Gar through the Chu Kwong Wah lineage and Chow Gar through being a direct student of Grandmaster Ip Shui, making his lineage uniquely valuable and historically significant within the broader Southern Praying Mantis family. Although a very private and humble man, he is held in high regard by the current Gatekeeper, Ip Chee Keung, who recognised Sifu Wong’s depth of knowledge, understanding, and experience, to the extent that he chose Sifu Wong’s student, Kui Fung, to lead the European Chow Gar Association and represent Chow Gar Kuen throughout the UK and Europe.

The ECGA remains committed to preserving, documenting, and respectfully sharing these living transmissions, not for spectacle, but to ensure that the knowledge of these lineages is recognised, understood, and passed forward intact.

More clips from this session will be released soon. 05/12/2025

Saam Jin Yiu Kiu

Three Arrows Rocking Bridge

Saam Jin Yiu Kiu is the second foundational form of Chow Gar Tong Long, building directly on the body method installed in Sarm Bo Jin. It marks the transition from pure structure training into functional bridging.

What the Form Trains

Saam Jin Yiu Kiu expands:
• internal structure
• short-range ging
• whole-body alignment
• coordinated stepping
• precise bridge-hand control

It introduces dynamic bridging and the characteristic “scissor” actions, crossing, trapping, and cutting the opponent’s arms while advancing.

Key Training Goals

1. Bridge Development (Kiu Sau)
• strengthens and conditions the forearms
• trains sticking, pressing, jamming, cutting
• builds tactile sensitivity for contact fighting

2. “Scissor” Mechanics (Jin)

Crossing/cutting motions used to:
• trap or neutralise the opponent’s arms
• break their guard
• create openings at close range

3. “Rocking Bridge” Power (Yiu Kiu)

Refines Chow Gar’s short power through:
• spinal-driven shock
• subtle whole-body rocking
• issuing ging with minimal external motion

4. Footwork Integration

Introduces:
• lateral steps
• angled entries
• compact evasive movement
• issuing power while stepping

Internal Skills Developed
• short power (ging)
• whole-body coordination
• elastic “mantis spring” structure
• forward pressure
• close-range striking efficiency
• conditioned bridge-arms for continuous contact

Application Themes

The form emphasises:
• seizing and controlling limbs
• shock-power inside the guard
• collapsing the opponent’s structure
• anti-grappling at close range
• simultaneous defence and attack

Compact, efficient, and built for real close-quarters fighting.

Place in the Curriculum

A typical Chow Gar sequence:

1. Sam Bo Jin — foundation
2. Saam Jin Yiu Kiu — expanded bridging & combat development
3. Further bridge forms, power forms, and weapons (lineage-dependent)

Saam Jin Yiu Kiu serves as the bridge between internal foundation and functional application.
