In our current world, where the ideas, the practices of social self-defense and social control and the heritage of critical sociology are swallowed by a swamp of territorial and identity wars, fights and pseudo-scientific shouting, we can hardly imagine a greater loss than that of Michael Burawoy. During his life he has always found the right paths and directions ahead both intellectually and politically. He also dared to be a person who integrates currents and ideas instead of turning them against each other. In order not to lose his real heritage and the momentum due to his tireless efforts, we will very soon organize an event where we have to map the tasks he pointed at in sociology and as a responsible intellectual.
Very shortly here is the last event in 2022 on the escalation of crises in global capitalism, where we could enjoy his clear reasoning and intellectual power. He has always supported us and we have been in close contact with him to cooperate and to think together.

We would like to thank Eszter Simon all her great contribution to our common project on non-capitalist mixed economies and critical social science. She did this with dedication and kindness, which can only be a trait of great spirits. She is not with us anymore and with saddened and broken heart we have to say goodbye. We do this with a promise that her work and her contribution will be our common heritage on the basis which we try to think over better social models. A better and more just/stable/humane world will be her result also. We express our full solidarity with her family and community and we thank that we could work with her. We share the post of Social Theory College remembering her.

HUNGARIAN COLONY
Our founding member, geographer and global historian Zoltán Ginelli started a new social media site for a Hungarian audience based on more than 10 years of research. "Hungarian Colony" (Magyar Gyarmat) is dedicated to understanding the global histories of Hungarian coloniality and race. In particular, it aims to explore Hungarian semiperipheral articulations of race and coloniality within global colonialism and the capitalist world-system. The website also presents materials from a forthcoming co-authored monograph on this subject to be published by Cambridge University Press.
