Brazilian Jiu Jitsu keeps attracting high level entrepreneurs into my circle.
It makes sense when you think about it.
BJJ forces you to stay calm under pressure, adapt when things don’t go your way, and make smart decisions in uncomfortable situations. The exact same skills it takes to run a business.
My own path as a coach hasn’t just been about teaching techniques it’s been about showing people how to apply discipline, strategy, and resilience on and off the mats.
That’s why so many founders, executives, and leaders find their way here.
They’re not just training for fitness… they’re training for clarity, confidence, and leadership.
For me, that’s been one of the most rewarding parts of this journey.

In Jiu Jitsu, the journey is filled with crossroads. Each one asks the same questions: Do I keep going? Is it worth it? What more can I learn?
Some face these moments more than others but I’ve never seen anyone navigate them with as much grit as Fred.
Fred has trained Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for 17 years. Along the way, he’s endured three neck surgeries that could have ended his time on the mats.
Where most would have quit, Fred adapted.
Where most would have played the victim, Fred took ownership and persevered.
With Fred, one quality has always stood above all: Grit.
This week, alongside a small circle of black belts, we gathered for an intimate and humble moment as I promoted Fred to Black Belt.

I want to thank everyone at for organizing a professional and well run tournament. I also want to acknowledge the Malaysian and Southeast Asian Jiu Jitsu community. In 20 years of Jiu Jitsu, I’ve rarely seen such respect and camaraderie among teams, coaches, and competitors at an event. It was truly a privilege to be part of it.
I’m incredibly proud of my team for stepping up and pushing beyond their comfort zones. Jiu Jitsu can be a powerful path of transformation, and as a coach, it’s an honor to witness them start to tap into their true potential on the mats.
As a team, we can’t wait to get back to and start preparing for the next challenge. Thank you all for your continued support. The best is yet to come!

2 weeks ago, the BJJ Team traveled to Kuala Lumpur for the AJP Malaysia tournament. We knew the competition would be tough as we saw the brackets fill up, and the team was eager to face the challenge. In the Gi Division, we encountered significant setbacks and minor errors that diminished our athletes’ chances of winning gold on the podium.
At the break, team morale was low. Despite securing two silver medals, the team felt they had not performed up to their potential. This is what makes competing in Jiu-Jitsu so valuable. The losses highlighted just how much they cared. At that moment, each athlete faced a choice: to either give up, go home, and dwell on their disappointment or to shake it off, return, and seek redemption in the No-Gi Division.
As their coach, I’m proud to say they rallied and managed to secure three golds in the No-Gi division. This was no easy task. The look on their faces afterward was not one of excitement but of relief. They understood the truth about their abilities and cemented growth in their spirit from their performance. These moments are priceless, and I look forward to seeing what has been awakened in them for their next tournament.
