Desert Point is certainly the best wave in Lombok and a good argument can be made it is the best left in all of Indonesia. The surf spot has its shortcomings; It needs a big swell to come alive and winds are not favorable during the wet season. The wave is critical, breaks over a shallow, sharp coral reef so only highly skilled surfers should attempt to surf it. Thankfully, Lombok has its share of beginner and intermediate surf spots. The best tide for Bangko-Bangko is low and on these 2 days shown in the video the low tide was in the late afternoon. Accommodations on the point are crude and the last 30 minute's drive is rough, 4x4 recommended. If you prefer a clean bed and A/C, it would be wise to spend the night 30-60 minutes away where those amenities are available. Expect a 4-5 hour ferry ride from Bali to Lombok. The ferries run 24 hours a day.
