Tangkoko National Park

It hasn't rained in North Sulawesi for several months, and we have had many wildfires across our region. Fruit and vegetable shortages are also widespread, and everyone is talking about when it will finally rain again.

We even had wildfires near Tangkoko National Park, which was closed by the government for safety reasons. But we do have some good news! Tangkoko is open again, and our staff, who visit regularly, have observed that everything inside the park is normal and all the animals are being spotted as usual.

Let's all hope for some rain soon!

Underwater Photography Workshop

Today, we had a few guest listeners join us! The workshop itself is capped at a maximum of 8 photographers to ensure everyone receives plenty of dedicated time, answers to their questions, and tailored support, no matter their skill level.

We’re also thrilled to welcome back repeaters! Does this mean they didn't learn the first time enough, or that they just can't get enough of Patrick's tips and tricks? 😉

Patrick is currently hosting one of his famous workshops, and the most-asked question is how to create great slow-shutter images.

It's a vast topic with many different techniques. This example isn't easy, but it's not the most difficult approach either, since it doesn't require a snoot on the strobe.

Here, you just need to find the right subject, blast it with light, and add a suitable camera movement.

HABITAT

Sometimes it is nice to include the animal's habitat in the photo.

This Pikachu nudibranch is perched on a colony of bryozoans (moss animals), presumably of the genus Bugula.

These fan-like or tree-like structures are of vital importance to the Pikachu nudibranch (Thecacera pacifica):

Food source:
These sea slugs are highly specialized predators that feed almost exclusively on these bryozoans.

Habitat & protection:
The complex branches provide the small creatures with protection from predators while serving as a substrate for laying their eggs.

Camouflage:
Despite its striking markings, the sea slug is often difficult to spot among the delicate structures of the bryozoans.

Yes, we will pick you up from the airport; no worries at all!

Both airport transfers are included in your stay. Upon arrival, a member of our front office team will greet you with a nameboard, offer you a welcome snack and something to drink, and bring you directly to the resort. Once you arrive, a fresh coconut will be waiting for you, followed by a welcome briefing where we can answer any remaining questions you might have. From there, your holiday officially begins!

Lilly, our photo model

It’s actually quite rare to spot our shy Lilly. She usually frequents the outdoor shower at Garden Villa 10 (don't ask us why!), our roof, or the main garden. It’s very rare for her to venture down to the pool area, so you’re truly blessed if you catch a glimpse of her.

But here she is, in all her beauty!
