Mount Batur! One of the most iconic volcanoes in Bali, Indonesia 🌋
Mount Batur is an active volcano located on the island of Bali, Indonesia. Its eruptive history is quite long and complex. Here are some interesting facts about Mount Batur:
- Mount Batur stands approximately 1,717 meters above sea level and is located within the Batur Caldera, a large caldera that formed approximately 29,300 years ago.
- The first recorded eruption occurred in 1804, and since then, the mountain has experienced several major eruptions, including in 1821, 1849, 1905, 1926, and most recently in 2000.
- In 1926, the eruption of Mount Batur caused severe damage to surrounding villages and forced residents to evacuate.
- Mount Batur is considered one of the most active volcanoes in Indonesia and is continuously monitored by volcanologists.
- The Mount Batur area is also a popular tourist destination in Bali, with spectacular lake views and sunrises. 🌅
