According to story, this motif was created around 1749-1788 AD when Queen Kencono Berok (Consort of Pakubuwono III) got inspiration by looking at the sky clear and starry. She began making truntum pattern shaped like a star. The king curious about the motif, silently observing her dilligence, and her earnestness eventually cause the king's Love for queen to blossom again.
Truntum Pattern also symbolize loyalty.
