Bali Aqua Nusa Penida Dive Center

We love to find the giant ocean sunfish on our dives! Nusa Penida is one of the top five places in the world to travel and reliably see mola! 🌏

Mola are here year-around but most commonly seen between July and November at a number of dive sites around the island. We are already counting the months until they return! 📆

Most people refer to these ocean giants as mola mola. However, "mola mola" is a specific species of this fish (there are three species). Here in Nusa Penida the most common is the Mola Alexandrini. This is the mola we usually encounter during "mola season." They are so exciting to see on a dive as this species can grow even heavier than mola mola (up to 2700kg!). 🎉

Everyone is nervous the first time they breathe underwater. 😨 It's strange... humans aren't designed to breathe underwater. 🤔

And yet.... it's an AMAZING experience! 🎉

The good news is that you can try first in a shallow swimming pool. It's a lot less scary! 💦
