Most people will never witness this in the wild.
Olive ridley sea turtles are currently listed as Vulnerable due to threats like fishing bycatch, plastic pollution, coastal development, and egg harvesting.
The ocean still holds incredible moments of life like this… but they aren’t guaranteed forever.
Seen off Nusa Penida, Indonesia 🇮🇩
Seeing moments like this reminds me why protecting the ocean matters so much.

This looks fake… but it’s not 👀
A Marble Ray gliding over the reef in Nusa Penida 🤙
Nature’s camouflage is unreal 🤩
Their marbled look helps them blend into the reef environment from above and they can be up to ~2m wide!
Rare Robust Ghost Pipefish. Seen at Manta Point in Nusa Penida, Indonesia on April 12, 2026.
Rainbow runners can scratch & clean themselves on a turtle’s shell while feeding. 🐟
This isn’t random behavior 🐢
Rainbow runners use turtles to:
• remove parasites
• graze algae
• scratch irritations
And the turtle doesn’t seem to mind and actually benefits from being cleaned itself. ☺️
A moving cleaning station in the ocean 🌊
The Ocean is full of surprises! 😆
It’s hard to explain this moment unless you’ve felt it.
For a second it didn’t feel like I was watching wildlife.
It felt like it was watching me.
Manta rays have the largest brain of any fish
and encounters like this make you wonder what’s going on behind those eyes.
Moments like this are why the ocean changes people.
📍 Manta Point, Nusa Penida
You almost swam right past it 👀
Giant Clam (~60 cm wide) hiding in plain sight on the reef 🪸
Giant Clams
• Can grow over 120 cm across
• Can live 100+ years
• Get energy feeding by filtering thousands of liters daily and from sunlight (like plants)
One of the most underrated things to spot while diving 🤿
Shark… or ray? 👀
This is a bowmouth guitarfish. A strange mix of both, and one of the coolest fish you can see underwater.
Flat body like a ray with a tail like a shark. 🦈
Sadly bowmouth guitarfish are Critically Endangered and rare to see.
Not something you see often on a dive 🤿

This all-black manta ray, often called a “ninja manta”, is one of the rarest color variations you can see underwater.
Most mantas have white markings on their belly, but this one is almost completely black.
Mantas also have the largest brain of any fish 🧠 They’re so smart they can recognize themselves in a mirror and can have long term memories that last 40-50 years. 🤯

Moments like this are why diving never gets old.

Ever seen a manta swim through scuba bubbles on purpose?
This one seemed like it was enjoying it.
Manta rays are incredibly intelligent and curious.
Sometimes they interact with divers in ways that feel almost playful.
No one knows exactly why they do this…
but moments like this are why people fall in love with them.
