Scuba Junkie Penida

𝗔𝘁 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗴𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲, 𝘆𝗼𝘂’𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗳! 😅

However, we’re actutally looking at a frogfish here and we’ve had quite a few sightings of them recently around Penida.

These incredibly camouflaged marine creatures usually live on sponges, where they blend almost perfectly into their surroundings.

They’re one of our dive guides’ favourite creatures to find, mostly because their shape, texture, colour, and ability to remain completely motionless make spotting one feel like a real achievement 🏆

Some species are even able to slowly change colour over time to better match the sponge or coral they’re living on, making them even harder to spot on future dives!

Sometimes the best underwater finds are the ones hiding in plain sight 💙

Huge congratulations to Georges & Natasha, our latest Divemaster graduates! 🤙🏼

You’ve both put so much work into the past few weeks, showing huge growth in the water, around the boat, and as part of the team. It’s been such a pleasure watching your confidence and skills develop throughout the course.

Georges, you always worked incredibly hard around the boat, brought great enthusiasm to assisting with Discover Scuba Diving experiences, and your passion for parrotfish never faded, even when nobody else seemed quite as excited about them 😅

Somehow, you also managed to keep your cool while having a regulator aggressively purged directly into your face, all whilst casually teaching everyone about the stock market and still handling everything with a smile! And of course, we can’t forget the karaoke performances 🎤🎶

Natasha, you grew into an expert drift diver fully embracing Penida’s currents, and became genuinely passionate about DSMB deployments and various back-finning techniques, which definitely aren’t always easy to master! 😎

From spotting octopuses to creating state-of-the-art Emergency Assistance Plans and rocking the iconic ear muffs and cotton wool in the ears look after every in-water activity, you brought such a positive energy to the team every single day and your kindness, patience, and empathy never went unnoticed.

Both of you were so lovely to have around and you’ve more than earned your Divemaster certifications and your place in our Scuba Ju**ie family 💙

A massive congratulations to our IDC candidates Javier and Nicole for passing their IE (Instructor exam) yesterday!

You’ve both worked incredibly hard with Jason over the past few weeks and after a great night of celebrations, it’s definitely time to catch up on some well-earned sleep and get ready to thrive as the instructors you’ve become 🔥

And a special congratulations to Josh for gaining his PADI Staff Instructor status - next up Course Director! 😉
