Exams don’t always go your way, and neither do they define your course in life- back door always open for different ways to get on your path in life 💚💛

Hurling they say is probably the fastest game in the world, but there’s nothing like the speed, skill and precision of a darts match, and young Ross McWey, (younger brother of Evan, him the hurler & Isabella the up and coming horseback legend) certainly is one to watch 💚💛 Anyways congratulations to Ross on being a semi-finalist in the 12 and under event, Tour 2 Season 8 held this week by Youth Darts School Ireland

An exciting week at Cumann na mbunscoil in O Moore Park Portlaoise for many of the boys and girls of our community, who lined out and proudly represented their schools in the finals that were held over the last few days in extremely challenging weather for sporting activities.

They were all brilliant and did themselves and their schools proud, but we must give a special mention to Ballyroan National School who won their Division 3 final against Ballacolla on a score line of 3-9 to 1-10, with team captain Harry Moran proudly accepting the cup! Well done to all involved.🤩

Commiserations to Mayo National School & Ardough National School put up a very good performance in their final, narrowly missing out on a win.

Knock National School again another fantastic performance from a very young team, who again represented their school with pride 💚💛

Well done to all the players/coaches/teachers & parents for supporting these matches throughout the school year culminating with the finals held in our county GAA grounds.

Our good friends in Knock National School are holding their annual fundraiser 5km walk/run on Friday June 5th 2026- this is always a great night for the whole community- be you walking with friends at a leisurely pace or running to try set your personal best time, be sure to support on the night.
Registration from 6.30pm with a start time of 7pm both at the picnic area in Spink
We have lots of runners/walkers who use our walking track in Ballypickas GAA, on a daily basis so this run might be an entry point for other runs, good luck to everyone taking part 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️🏃🎽👟

Thanks to thejuveniles who turned up this morning for hurling and games with our adult players. A super time was had, with the fantastic weather adding to the atmosphere 😎
The sausages/rolls/juice & icepops were very much enjoyed afterwards 💚💛

Wasn’t to be tonight in Ballypickas, but they didn’t fall short on effort. On a night where Noel Concannon made his return to the goal, he was well protected by the six defenders who worked tirelessly to protect him, but unfortunately their efforts were in vain. Arron & Fionn in midfield covered every blade of grass on the pitch and in the forwards Conor & MJ were the chief scorers, with Calum chipping in with a point, but everyone, including the three subs did their best on a night when Ballypickas recorded a lot of wides.💚💛
