The Di**le Peninsula - spiritual home to early Celtic Christianity, ancient ogham stones, ringforts guarded by the fairy people, battle ground of the Desmond Rebellion and, last but by no means least, home to the Di**le Marathon and Half Marathon.

Step forward Ballymore Cobh athletes, Suzanne Alcock and Alex Eaton, who took on the full and half distances respectively, with admirable enthusiasm and gargantuan grit over both a super-scenic and uber-undulating course.

Suzanne's 42.2 km crusade was her very first mosey at the marathon distance, and if those pictures are anything to go by, it sure won't be her last.

Alex's adventures over 21.1 km were definitely not his first, with a whopping 7 Di**le Half Marathons (totalling 148 km) conquered by this man. And that's only his Di**le Half Marathons!

SHE'S DONE IT AGAIN! 🔥

Sophie O'Sullivan (Ballymore Cobh AC) digs deep to finish second over 800m at the Grand Prix Brescia in Italy, a World Athletics Continental Tour silver meet.

Her personal best time of 1:58.60 moves her to second on the Irish all-time list behind Ciara Mageean ☘️
