St Mary’s GFC Weekly Notes
Senior Football
Our Senior men took to the field on Saturday afternoon in Pearse Park for this years Senior Championship Quarter Final. Unfortunately, it was not our day and the final score was St Mary’s 0:09 Killoe Young Emmets 1:08. Hard luck to the team and management who have given us some great games of football throughout the year. We look forward to seeing them back on the field of play in 2027.
Minor Club
Congratulations to our Minors who ended the group stages with a clean sweep after a victory over Clonguish Og on Monday last and finished top of the table.
The team will now play St Francis in the Harte Cup Semi Final this coming weekend in Higginstown with date and time to be confirmed. Best of luck to the team and management!
Best of luck to the Under 14’s who play St Colmcille/Ballymore in the A Championship Shield Final in Higginstown on Tuesday 15th September at 6pm.
Best of luck to the Under 16’s who now play the postponed Under 16 Division 1 Shield Final on Tuesday 22nd September in Higginstown versus St Dominic’s at 6pm.
The Under 13 Champions Challenge starts with a home game for Granard on Friday 18th September versus Longford Slashers at 6.30pm in Higginstown.
Under 8 and Under 10 blitzes are taking place – details are shared with parents/guardians.

Mixed underage training takes place on Sunday mornings in Higginstown at 10am – 11am for Under 6, Under 8 and Under 10 players. New members always welcome.
St Mary’s Ladies
Our Senior girls lined out for their last match of the 2026 season in the B Championship Semi-Final versus Sean Connolly’s. As with every new team, the first year is about learning and growing and the girls surely did that. They competed in the League, Tournament and Championship and grew with each game. Enjoy the period of rest ladies and we look forward to seeing you back for pre-season shortly!
Our mighty Under 16 girls played the B Championship Cup Semi-Final in Higginstown on Tuesday last against a strong St Brigid’s Gaels. The girls never gave up, and whilst down by a couple of points at the break, they battled back and ended up the deserving winners with a scoreline of 3:11 – 2:11.
The Final is due to be played on 22nd September. Keep an eye on our social media for more information. Best of luck to the team and management.
Another super win in the Under 13 League on Thursday with a win over St Brigid’s Gaels. Round 4 will take place in the coming week versus Colmcille. Date and time will be confirmed on our social media.

Training for all girls from Under 4 to Under 12 takes place from 6-7pm on Wednesday evenings.

50/50 Draw
This week’s 50/50 draw took place in Clancy’s Bar on Sunday, 13th September. Congratulations to Colm Sheridan who was the lucky winner of the €1800 jackpot.

Congratulations
Huge congratulations to St Mary’s Senior Goalkeeper, Reece Small and his partner Katie on the birth of their beautiful baby boy Kaysen last week. No doubt he will have the St Mary’s jersey on him in no time!
