Wildflowers planted in the playground!!

A big THANK YOU to Athenry Primary School, Athenry Community Garden, the Playground Committee and local farmers for collaborating on this project ahead of our big renovation next month! In 8 weeks time, the strip along the fence will be awash with colour 🌷 🌺 🌹

Just a reminder that the playground will close for the month of June as scheduled to allow for the renovation by Kompan! This is a very exciting time and we can’t wait to see our new playground! 🙌🏻

The Big Day Out returns on Saturday, 8th of August in the Park! It’s already looking to be bigger and better than last year 🥳

We’re gathering storytellers to sprinkle wonder across a joyful day for our community playground… and we’d love you to be part of it.

• Creative souls with puppets, music, or a flair for the unexpected

Whether you’re local or coming from afar, a warm welcome awaits you at Athenry CycleFest on Saturday the 9th of May (1-4pm) - beside the Castle.

Join the Athenry Pedal Parade around the town at 3pm, give your bike some TLC at the Bike Health Check, and snap a smile at the Cycle Photobooth, test your competitive balance skills in the Go Slow Race, or let the little ones zoom around the Wee Wheelers Loop.

There’s something for everyone: face painting, ice cream, vintage bikes, stilt walkers, electric trishaw tours and more...

Plus loads of bike goodies and surprises along the way… you won’t want to miss it!

*Basket Swing*

The Playground Committee had to remove the basket from the basket swingset for safety reasons. We apologise for this inconvenience but we are not repairing it as we will have this brand new set in place in June!

📅 All going well, the playground renovation will take place in June! 🥳 The playground will be closed for the month of June and as long as the weather is in our favour, and no other delays, Kompan plan to complete the groundworks and installation in June.

We are getting so close to a big transformation! We are working hard behind the scenes to try and ensure everything goes according to plan.

In June, boys and girls will get to see an Artic truck, teleporters, diggers and workers digging and building their wonderful playground! 🛻 🪏 🛝

Looking forward to sunny Summer days in the new playground! 🌞

Join in tomorrow evening down at the playground!

Tidy Towns competition judging takes place in the first few weeks of June so it would be great to have Athenry looking it’s best! 🌷

Now that we all have an extra hour of light in the evenings the tidy towns group will be out every Thursday from 7pm to 8pm. This week we will start our clean up at the Athenry Community Playground. Please come along if you have time to spare.

It’s never too late to start! Join in on a lovely walk this evening around Athenry!
