While the world was watching Messi lead Argentina into the World Cup Final with 2 fansatic assists, it was 2 goals from Sean McGrath that secured a win for Athenry this evening
Cregmore took a very early lead but Athenry drew level mid way through the half when Sean McGrath got his 1st, converting from the penalty spot.
It stayed that way until the dying minutes of the game when Athenry were awarded another penalty which was slotted home by Sean McGrath again.
Hopefully they'll all get to watch the final....

An incredible milestone for Athenry FC —
15 of our former players are now competing at League of Ireland level with Galway United, Athlone Town, Longford Town and Mayo FC!

15 players is a huge number, and it doesn't happen by chance. It's a reflection of the countless hours of coaching, mentoring and belief poured in over the years, the unwavering support of families and a club that backs its players every step of the journey.

As a club we are extremely proud of each and every one of them and the successful pathway this club has established to make this a reality.
