RDFL Division 3 Match Report

It was a glorious afternoon away from home as an absolute masterpiece of a second half saw us bounce back from a first-half deficit to claim a resounding 3–1 triumph over Ballaghaderreen FC B

The home side struck first in the 32nd minute through A. Dowd, leaving us chasing the game 1–0 at the interval despite our spirited efforts.

Just three minutes into the second half (49'), Brendan Murphy latched onto a brilliant delivery from Cormac Fallon-Myers to smash home the equalizer and flip the momentum entirely in our favor!
We continued to press high and dominate the physical battle.
Fresh legs off the bench ultimately turned our dominance into pure clinical ex*****on. In the 79th minute, substitute James Keane-Flanagan produced a moment of magic, meeting Dylan Potter’s fine setup to put us 2–1 ahead!
With the home side pushing forward in desperation, we struck the decisive knockout blow in the 85th minute when Sean Minnock calmly slotted home our third goal, magnificently set up by James Keane-Flanagan to complete a sensational individual performance.
A great away win for Moore B who are well in the hunt for a title charge. POTM was Brendan Murphy who scored a goal to get us back in the game and led by example at the back. Notable mentions go to Ian Goldrick who made some crucial saves and to James Keane-Flanagan who changed the game when he came on with a goal which changed the game.

Moore Utd Seniors welcomed neighbours Skyvalley Rovers to Falty Park on Friday evening last.

A game both teams needed to win.
It was Moore Utd that started brightest.
Moore Utd moved and pressed Skyvalley all over the pitch and after 10 minutes of play Caimin Macken ran onto a through ball from Josh Lennon to calmly slot throught the oncoming keeper legs.

1-0

1 should have became 2 and 3 if it wasn't for very close calls for offside against super runs from Josh Lennon.

Skyvalley settled from this early set back and on 25 mins found themselves back in the game with a wind assisted free kick found its way to the Moore Utds net untouched.

Credit to Moore they never panicked and kept playing and pressing until half time.

Second half started fairly slow for Moore Utd and after only 5 minutes of play they found themselves 1-2 down.
A good finish from Skyvalley from a deep cross but poor defending on Moore Utds behalf.

This set back switched Moore Utd on,
And from this point on Moore Utd took over.

Liam Johnston, second half sub, started to get space on the right side.

Only for the Skyvalley keeper. Moore could easily have had 2 more goals.

The equaliser came from great pressure from Josh on the keeper, when his poor clearance fell to Caimin Macken 50 yards from goal with no one at home, Caimin cooly slotted home to give Moore Utd the qualiser they deserved.

The winner game soon afterwards, when Sean Finneran smashed home a rebound ball from 7 yards out.

3-2

Skyvalley kept trying and did have 1 effort to find the equaliser but Tom Egan rushed out from his goal and the Skyvalley player pulled his effort well wide of the far post.

All roads lead to the county ground in Lecarrow this evening where our brilliant bunch of Under 12s boys take on Castlerea Celtic 2 in the RDYSL Trophy Final.

Their group have had an excellent season so far and we’d appreciate all the support that can make it for the 6.30pm kick off this evening.

Best of luck to the team and management this evening.

Pictured picking up his winners cheque for last Monday nights jackpot of €480 is a very happy Tony Power from Kiltoom. Tony is pictured with our Club President and ticket seller Tom Grenham. Tony has been a very regular supporter of our Moore United lotto and 5050 tickets down the years and we’re delighted to see him win. Happy spending Tony!!!

On Saturday our u11 girls travelled to Shiven for the cup finals.

Our Champions girls faced Cloonfad in the Final. The game started at a blistering pace with both teams realising what was on the line. Cloonfad piled on the pressure but Lauren O’neill and Orlaith Kelly working hard from midfield helped keep Cloonfad at bay. 0-0 at half time and all to play for in the second half.

Moore came flying out of the blocks at the start of the second half and some great football from Sadie O’Brien left the ball at Katie Downeys feet and a wonder strike from 20 yards found the back of the Cloonfad net. This kicked Moore into action and a super ball over the top from Rachel Dolan found Aisling Grenham and the speedy forward found herself bounding down on goal and a super strike was met with an equally super save from the Cloonfad Keeper however the ever present Katie Downey was on hand to tap into an empty net. Cloonfad continued to knock on the door but some super saves from Eabha Kenny kept us the lead going into the last 5 mins. Cloonfad had the last chance of the game but some brilliant defensive pressure from Hannah Kenny made sure we finished the game with a 2 goal victory. What a fantastic achievement to win the Cup final for this super squad of girls.

Sadly our younger Europa girls lost to the narrowest of margins in their cup semi final. Most of these girls are playing up from u9s at u11s so it an extremely bright future for them over the coming years.
