Athlone Basketball Club & Academy

On Saturday, May 23rd, the academy held its end of season awards presentation in Our Lady’s Bower.

It was a fantastic evening filled with fun and laughter as the U7 to U12 boys and girls were celebrated, while we looked back on what has been a hugely successful season 👏🏻

A special word of thanks to Sean Burke and Frankie Keena for joining as guest speakers on the day. Another thank you to all of the players, their families and friends for attending and making it such a memorable occasion.

A wonderful gathering and the perfect way to round off the season!

The final awards presented yesterday evening were our Club Spirit Award & Club Person of the Year.

The club also acknowledged the MABB achievements for our U14 Girls, U14 Boys, U18 Boys & Senior Men 2 along with showing our appreciation to the members who volunteered again and again throughout the season as table officials.

It was a fantastic evening and we were delighted to have so many club members along with their family & friends in attendance💙

Following the afternoon of games yesterday, we had our end of season awards presentation where we recognised the achievements of the entire season and awarded our various MVP, MIP, Hustle, Defence & Impact awards to individuals from our U13 teams right through to senior.

Everyone also enjoyed a selection of sandwiches, pizza, tea/coffee & refreshments! Big thanks to O’Brien’s Café, Athlone for preparing the amazing selection of sandwiches👏🏻👏🏻

We wrapped up the season with a brilliant club day in Colaiste Chiarain on Sunday, May 24th.

There was boys vs girls games & mixed scrimmages across our U13–U18 teams, plus knockout competitions and our first ever players vs coaches game.

After a great battle, it was the coaches who came away with the bragging rights this year. No doubt this game will be a hit each year with multiple juvenile players taking part.

A big thank you to our committee members, coaches and senior players for assisting with the running of the day👏🏻 and a special thanks to our players and their parents for showing up when the sun was shining outside☀️

Shoutout to Gillian from our senior ladies team who was playing in the Dublin Masters tournament this weekend with fellow midlands players from Tullamore & Longford. The team reached the semi final earlier today👏🏻👏🏻

Keelan & Daniel are representing the MABB U17 Boys in a regional invitational tournament in Longford today. The team had a comprehensive win over the LLR to start the day👏🏻👏🏻

Well done to Sadhbh, Aoife & Lily who were representing Connacht today in UL at the regional tournament👏🏻👏🏻
