Another good performance from Athlone who controlled the game from start to finished. Goals in the first half by Leandro Miranda & Sam Meegan.

Athlone missed a penalty early in the 2nd half before Leandro added a 3rd & his second of the game. Shay Coen finished the scoring with an excellent curling shot which nestled in the top corner.

Special mention to 15 year old Cooper Lynch who stood out on his first start for the 17’s.

Fairly even game throughout. Athlone went 1-0 up early in second half when Ethan Neary finished off some excellent counter attack play from Fionn Macken. Two set pieces from Finn Harps though, decided the game.

🖤💙 *BRAY WANDERERS 0 - 1 ATHLONE TOWN AFC* 💙🖤

Athlone Town AFC made it back-to-back wins in the Women’s Under-17 Tier 1 campaign yesterday with a hard-fought 1- 0 victory away to Bray Wanderers in Greystones yesterday.

There was very little between the two sides throughout, with both defences on top for large periods of the game.

The decisive moment came in the 23rd min of the first half when captain *Doireann Lynch* stepped up for a long-range free kick. Her effort caused problems for the Bray goalkeeper, who could only parry the ball, with *Abbie Duffy* quickest to react inside the box to fire home and give Athlone the lead. ⚽️

From there, Athlone showed great discipline and defensive organisation to see out the game. Neither side created many clear-cut opportunities as both defences continued to dominate, ensuring Athlone held on for another valuable three points. Emily Lynam Carroll dealt with everything when called upon 💪

A fantastic result on the road and another clean sheet for the team. 🧤👏
