More fantastic swimming by Jane (4th place in 50 backstroke), Christian (4th place backstroke). Also well done to Nicola & Mark on receiving certificates this evening for their outstanding swimming.

This brings the 2024 Summer Nationals to an end. A Very Big Thank you to fabulous Coach Denise, Team Managers, Volunteers, Parents and Swimmers. A big well done to our Swimmers on such brilliant performances. 👏

Day 4: 🥈Congratulations Leah 2nd place 200m backstroke, incredible result, Well done 👏⭐️🎉 also Congratulations to Christian receiving “most improved certificate” after dropping 7.25sec in his 200m IM.
Another fabulous performance by the ASC.

Andy Bushell is a former pro swimmer, a double British Champion, an 18 time British university champion and a medalist at the US Nationals.

Andy is a member here at the centre and part of Athlone Swimming Club's
coaching team. He last raced competitively more than a decade ago but is back in training now for the 13.5km Jim O'Connor Memorial Castle to Castle Swim taking place on Aug 24th.

Last Saturday after completing the 5km qualifying time trial, Andy explained why he decided to take on the challenge....

"Swimming has given me so much and has provided me with so many opportunities and I want to give back to this wonderful community.

Working with the local swim team inspired me to get back into the water and challenge myself, I have never done anything like this and was a sprinter when I swam competitively.

The aim is to make it through the swim in one piece, raise a lot of money for a fantastic cause and show my boys what is possible when you work hard"

The team has worked incredibly hard, pushing their limits and refining their skills. The ASC Elite Squad Team Building morning was a complete stand out, morning kicked off with a rejuvenating yoga session that set the perfect tone for what was to come. 🧘‍♀️✨ ….An exhilarating open water swim, where the Elite Squad tested their limits and embraced the great outdoors. 🏊‍♂️🌊 Wrapping up their busy morning returning to the pool for a competitive swim session followed by a delightful breakfast 🥐☕️

A huge thank you to everyone who participated and made this morning so special. A special Thanks to Head Coach Denise, Charlie Naughton & Safety boats along with the continued & valued support by parents. Let’s keep this positive energy flowing! 💙
