Ballincollig Fit4Life - Strength & Conditioning
Ballincollig Athletics Club has backed eight weeks of Strength & Conditioning for our Fit4Life women πͺπͺ We have finished our penultimate session with Clodagh OβConnor, of FITz FITness in Ballincollig, who has capably put us through our reps. Well done to all the women who take part in these sessions πππ A special mention for our wonderful juvenile athletes, who enthusiastically join sessions each week and fit right in with the group.
Feedback from the group has been positive π Not only have we felt ourselves getting stronger, but we have also gotten to know each other as we group up during sessions. The lessons will aid our running practice by building muscle and reducing the likelihood of injury πββοΈπββοΈ
We also build endurance, as stronger muscles make for more confident and effective running strides. We work using body weight and also use equipment such as dumbbells, barbells, slam balls, resistance bands, jump boxes, stationary bikes, and more. We practice dumb bell and body weight curl, squats, burpees, lunges, press-ups, side planks, calf raises, and more πͺποΈββοΈππ€Έ
We look forward to returning to our Tuesday evening Fit4Life running when classes finish, where we will feel the benefits of our strength and conditioning work ππππ
