That’s a wrap for the Glaveys U-10 Girls for 2026. A brilliant season for the girls, they made huge progress for their age group. Understanding skills like solo, bounce, steps and shoot, getting used to contact in games and beginning to know their roles on the pitch like goalie, backs, midfield and forwards. A great bunch, very easy to coach and full of energy and all good friends. Massive thank you to all parents for making the trips and making sure everyone gets to the games. Thanks to Annie, Fergal and everyone that helped during the year. See you all next year for more of the same 🇯🇲💪

*End of Season Report - Senior Men*

As the dust settles on our Senior Men's team's defeat to Padraig Pearses AET in the Championship Quarter-Final, it brings an end to the 2026 season, and it was another memorable one.
The year back in March with the Division 2 League. With no availability of our county players & others out with injuries, we still managed to win 7 of the 10 games. This was enough for 3rd place & a play-off for promotion to Division 1 vs Padraig Pearses. Like last Saturday, we also just came up short, meaning we will stay in Division 2 for 2027. The lack of availability of more experienced players meant numerous younger players just starting on the panel got large amounts of game time & great exposure & development in adult football. This will stand to them & the panel greatly for the years ahead.
The Championship started in August, & we got off to a difficult start, losing our opening 2 games vs St. Brigids & Strokestown. But we got the show back on the road with a win over Western Gaels in Ballinlough to ensure our place in the knockout stages. That win was followed up a week later with another victory over Elphin to book our place in the last 8. Unfortunately, that is where the journey ended. Despite a great display & doing so many things right vs Pearses we had to settle for extra time after the 60 minutes. Extra time was always tight, and it was only in the last 5 minutes, that Pearses pulled away.
We will head into 2027 facing our 10th consecutive year of the Senior Championship. While this group has greater ambitions than just retaining senior status, & featuring at the latter end of the Championship, this is still a status the club is very proud of & never takes for granted.
Thank you to all the players, & a special thank you to the management team of Seán Burke, Alan Daly, Eamon Carty & James Heneghan. A special mention also to Paddy Scally & Michael Flatley on Video & Stats, Lorcan Higgins on Physio, Cathy Daly & Barbara Morris for doing Admin, Joe Gorman for doing Maor Uisce & Sharon Carty our Kit Co-ordinator. Seán has also confirmed he will be stepping down from from his role. The club thanks him for his hard work & effort, both on & off the pitch throughout the year.

Well done to Niall Heneghan who was selected on the Roscommon Herald Team of the Week following his display vs Padraig Pearses last Saturday. Niall was also named as the Herald's Man of the Match in yesterdays newspaper 👏🇯🇲 Some week for the Heneghan household.

ALL-STAR NOMINATION 👏👏**

Congrats to Darragh Heneghan on being nominated for a PWC GAA/GPA All-Star for his displays with Roscommon in 2026. This is a well deserved acknowledgement for Darragh, after he played a key role in Roscommon's Connacht Championship triumph. The award ceremony takes places on Friday October 30th.

Hard luck to our U-14 Boys team, who after a great display, came up just short in the Championship Final vs Tulsk last night in O'Rourke Park, Castlerea. Trailing 1-7 to 0-6 at half-time, we made a great comeback in the 2nd half, with only two points separating the teams heading into injury-time. Unfortunately, that was as close as we got, as Tulsk got the insurance score to seal a 1-12 to 1-9 win.

This brings the curtain down on a brilliant year for this group of players. After an up and down league campaign, this team really came good when it matters most for Championship. They won 8 of their 10 games, including a brilliant come-from-behind win over Castlerea in the Semi-Final. In fact, their 2 defeats both came to Tulsk and both by a single score.

Some many positives to take from the year and many bright days ahead for these players. Thank you to all the players and a special thank you to the management team of Paddy Scally, Fergal Coyle, John McCartin and Paul Hunt.
