Our Junior B team welcomed Bangors Hibs to the Green Sunday morning in what was a battle for 3rd spot in the division. Prior to kick off in a lovely gesture Bangor Hibs captain Mark Healy presented our captain David Kerr with a picture of our team from our away game earlier in the season marking their respect for Umar Shafiq. A lovely gesture which is very much appreciated by everybody in the club.
A great open game developed with both sides creating plenty of chances with Hibs being that bit more accurate in front of goal the difference on the day. Despite the result all at the club would like to express our thanks to the lovely gesture by Bangor Hibs which won't be forgotten.

Heartbreak for the lads at the Green this evening losing to two injury time goals to see Conn Rangers take the pts. In what was an even game Darragh Forde scored a bullet to put us 1 up at the break. Darragh scored a 2nd just before the hour mark to put us in a marvelous position. Unfortunately Conn pulled one back on 62 mins and started to put the pressure on controlling the game. We defended brilliantly and Sean Shaughnessy made a few outstanding saves to keep us ahead and it looked like we had the 3 pts until Conn scored a double in the 91st and 95th minute to take the pts. Tough on the lads but they gave it everything and deserve great credit for their performance.
We have a break next weekend and will be back in action in two weeks time when we travel to face Manulla in another massive game for the club.
Well done to our U16 B team who had a brilliant 3-2 win in the end after going in 1-0 down at half time. It was a good game of football between two well matched sides. Goalscorers BTAFC - Edward Coyne ⚽️⚽️ Jayden McNamara ⚽️

Our Junior B team played their first game on Thursday evening since the loss of their team mate and friend Umar Shafiq. On what was a tough evening for the lads they performed very well to secure a pt against a much improved Conn Rangers team. Well done to Greg, Will and the lads on a good team performance.
Loads to do today!!
Well done to Danny OToole and Darragh Forde on their selection 👏🏻
Joe Kelly has named his squad for Tuesday evening U21 Development squad first outing of the season against a Galway United XI in Moyne Villa.
It's a huge experience for such a young side to show their talents against players from a League of Ireland side.

Our U14 B boys team welcomed Westport United B to the green on miserable Sunday afternoon. But both teams came to play and I’m sure anyone that was watching would agree it was a great game to watch with both teams battling till the end and playing some really good football. Thankfully our lads came out the right side of it with the final score Ballinrobe Town 2 Westport United 0.
Our U10’s continued their great start to the new season with a 7-2 win against Claremorris this afternoon. The girls played some fantastic football throughout and a special mention to Emily Hughes and Siun Finnerty who made their debuts today.

Tough game away to Crossmolina. We started well with centre back Oisin Hanlon scoring a header to put us 1 up inside 5 minutes. We had chances to be well clear but missed a few golden opportunities. Crossmolina punished us with their only chance of the half to see the score 1-1 at the break.
The second half started in the worst possibly way when Crossmolina went 2-1 up through a lovely volley from the edge of the box. We created few chances for the remainder of the game with Crossmolina protecting their lead with everything they had. Deep into injury time Richie Dalton scored a bullet of a header to secure a valuable pt which pushes us a small bit closer to safety.
Next up we play Conn Rangers at home where hopefully a positive result will see us safe in the Super League.

Lovely getsure of support and show of solidarity from the Mayo Football League and indeed from the kind messages too from so many clubs around the county. Thank you ❤️
We'll miss you dear friend, we wont forget you. Along with this great community we stand with your family as they come to terms with losing you and your wonderful mother Noreen.
It is with great sadness that we have learned of the passing of our club member Umar Shafiq and his mother Noreen in a tragic accident while on a family holiday in Pakistan.
We are absolutely heartbroken for the entire Shafiq family and friends as well as all Umar's teammates and coaches who held Umar in such high regard. Not only was Umar an outstanding goalkeeper who represented the club from U10 s all the way to the senior team but he also represented Mayo at various levels.
While Umar was still on the under 18 squad he had become an important member of our senior squads and was regularly in goals for our Junior B team as well as being a part of our Super League team making his debut earlier this season away to Conn Rangers. All Umar's teammates many of whom came through the underage section of the club with Umar are devastated with this sudden and tragic loss of their friend and we ask the community also rally round to support them too.
Everybody who knew Umar both within our club, the Ballinrobe community and the wider Mayo Football family as evidenced by the massive numbers of messages of sympathy we have received knew Umar as a lovely young gentleman who always had a kind, positive outlook on things. We will miss our great friend who was always so enthusiastic, upbeat and an absolute pleasure to be around. Umar, we will never forget you.
The club along with Ballinrobe Community School are actively working with the family to look at how we as a community can pay our respects in due course and will share information as and when we can.
We would ask everybody to respect the privacy of the Shafiq family at such a difficult time.
Best of luck to our 3 U14 Teams and management teams who kick off their league campaigns this evening with our A and C teams away to Castlebar Celtic and our B team at home to Celtic.

Our U16 girls team hosted KK Utd in the opening game of their Division 1 league campaign at the Green on Tuesday evening in what was a cracking game of football. Tara Fitzpatrick scored a stunning hatrick for the home side while U14 player Sophia Place also scored a fine goal. The home team created plenty of chances on the evening and will be disappointed not to have secured the 3 pts against a strong KK Utd team. Still a solid start and hopefully we can get the 3 pts next week when we are on the road with an away game against Killala.

Our girls put in a terrific effort tonight against a very experienced Claremorris team. Some lovely link up play by the girls created some decent chances in the first half but they just couldn’t add that finishing touch. However it was Claremorris who took the lead with a very good finish into the corner of the net. They soon scored a second from the penalty spot. But our girls never gave up and a terrific penalty save from Maddie Gibbons which would have made it 3-0 seemed to lift our girls and we ended the first half very strong.
The second half began and the girls piled on the pressure and again, carved out some great chances but credit to the Claremorris keeper who showed safe hands throughout the entire game. Emily O’Gorman earned a penalty for her team when her free kick was hand-balled in the box and up stepped Emily who drove her effort just wide of the post. The entire team continued to knock on the door but it just wasn’t to be but plenty of positives to take from this opening performance.
Well done girls.

Our U18 squad got off to the best possible start with a 3-0 victory against KK United at the Green on Monday evening. The home side started well with Theo Belanguer going closest to opening the scoring with a rocket from 25 yards which was brilliantly saved by the KK keeper. It took a real moment of magic to open the scoring with a 30 yard curling free kick flying into the top corner on 37 minutes from central midfielder Ben Place. 3 minutes later Ben was to repeat the trick with another shot from distance which was every bit as good as the first for two early goal of the season contenders on 40 mins and see us 2 up at half time.
The second half was a tighter affair with both sides creating a number of chances with Rory Devereux having a very good game between the sticks for the home side. The home team finally put the game on 70 minutes when good work from Rhys Cross assisted Luke Muniz whose strike from the edge of the box flew into the corner of the net. A fantastic team performance and a great start for the squad and the management team of Ian Place and Marc Hughes who have the boys well drilled and playing some lovely football based on this performance.
The lads have no game next Monday but will be back in action on Monday 22nd when they will be away to Glenhest Rovers.

Tough day at the office for a rescheduled game on Thursday evening against an excellent Celtic team. We competed extremely well in the first half only falling a goal behind just before the half time whistle. Two early goals in the second half ended the game as a contest. Great credit to the lads who worked extremely hard against the Connacht Champions.
We look forward to welcoming Celtic to the Green for the return game this Sunday morning with an 11am kick off where we hope the home pitch and support will help us get a positive result.
All support greatly appreciated for our Super League team.
