Applications in relation to the development have been submitted to An Coimisiún Pleanála. Statutory Consultation for Compulsory Purchase Order (CPO), Environmental Impact Assessment Report and Natura Impact Statement is available to view until 30th September 2026. Submissions may be made in writing to An Coimisiún Pleanála at 64 Marlborough Street, Dublin 1, D01 V902 by 30th September 2026.
The route between Stranorlar and Donegal Town is regularly used by our club members for training and
recreational cycling and serves as an important connection with cyclists and cycling clubs throughout the county.
The proposed Greenway will deliver substantial benefits to the wider community by providing a
safe and accessible route for walking and cycling. It will encourage greater participation in active travel and outdoor recreation, improve connectivity between communities, and enhance the
quality of life for residents and visitors alike.
In addition, the Greenway has the potential to become a significant recreational and tourism asset
for County Donegal, showcasing the natural beauty of the Barnesmore Gap while contributing
positively to the local economy.
Finn Wheelers Cycling Club believes that the Barnesmore Gap Greenway represents an important
investment in the safety, health and wellbeing of present and future generations and fully supports
its development. 🚴♂️
