MORE COACHING. LESS CONTENT.
Today, BGC is making a commitment to use social media more thoughtfully.
We ask children to reduce their screen time, avoid comparison and be present—yet adults can feel pressure to record, stage and publicly share their achievements.
Social media usually shows the medal, the completed skill and the perfect moment. It rarely shows the mistakes, difficult days, perseverance and ordinary training sessions behind that achievement.
Taking photographs, setting up videos and asking children to repeat skills for the camera also takes valuable time away from coaching.
At BGC, we are committing to:
• Keeping coaches fully present during classes.
• Never asking children to repeat a skill simply to create content.
• Reducing routine or staged photographs and videos for public social media.
• Using our public pages mainly for useful club information and posts with a genuine purpose.
• Recognising effort, confidence, friendships and perseverance—not only medals, squad places and impressive new skills.
• Creating opportunities for every gymnast to work towards and celebrate their own progress.
This is not an anti-social-media or anti-competition campaign. It is about protecting children’s coaching time, using social media with greater purpose and ensuring that every child feels valued—whether or not they ever appear online.
Our best work may not always be posted, but we hope it will be seen and felt in every child’s experience at BGC.
Let children live the moment—not perform it for social media.
Be the change you want to see.
