🤎 SUPER SATURDAY AT NEWPARK 🤎

Plenty of goals and big performances this weekend! 🏑

Our W1s got the job done to stay top of the table, while the M1s showed serious fight, coming back from behind to a 3-3 draw before narrowly missing out in a tense 1v1 shootout.

Two big performances, plenty of moments worth reliving. 🎥

🏑 Big News for Avoca Hockey Club! New Spiideo AI Camera System Launches! 🏑

After almost three years in the making, we’re excited to announce that our Spiideo AI camera system is fully installed and ready for the 2026/27 season!

It began with a simple vision: give our aspiring players the best video analysis tools available, while building something the whole club could benefit from. That vision led us to Spiideo — a partner whose ambitions matched our own, in step with the work and research Hockey Ireland were doing at the same time.

Last year we tested the concept with a single sideline camera at Newpark, recording games for analysis and broadcasting our men’s home EY1 games live on Hockey Ireland TV. The feedback from players, coaches and supporters was overwhelmingly positive, and it proved this was the right direction for the club.

Building on that success, we’ve now added two more cameras behind each goal, giving full coverage of the pitch from every angle. Paired with Spiideo’s AI auto-tagging technology, coaches and players now have an even more powerful tool to sharpen skills, refine tactics and improve decision-making on the pitch.

A huge thank you to Avoca member Paul Colton, who has led the project and installation plus overseeing the rollout. Also thanks to Vice President Simon Collins who’s been a key stake holder and supporter of the project along with Newpark School.

Trevor Dagg, Avoca’s Director of Hockey, said:

“This is a significant step forward following the resurfacing of the pitch in Newpark to give our players the best experience. We especially want our younger players to understand we’re investing in them, their development and their future in Avoca Hockey Club. All these projects help push us forward in obtaining our goals, while creating special memories — and hopefully friends for life.”

We can’t wait to see this technology in action this season. Watch this space! 🎥
