U16 Major 2-1 Knocklyon United FC

Our 16’s welcomed Knocklyon to Corduff park on Tuesday night. The home team started well and were on top for large parts of the game. We opened the scoring after Ryan made great dribbling run to square it to Greg for a nice finish.
corduff continued to press for a second but with a lot of wayward shooting we were unable to find the breakthrough.
Knocklyon hit Corduff on the break with a very well worked goal to equalise. As good a finish as you're likely to see.

Corduff then pushed to get a winner and Isaac was fouled in the box. Isaac jumped up to take the peno and managed to find the net.

Knocklyon continued to push for an equaliser for the final last 10 minutes and were unlucky not to get a goal.

To put this in to context - Sean Fogarty is the Bohemians senior first team goalkeeping coach. Both he and Paul Owens are UEFA certified goalkeeping coaches and Sean is also involved in the Irish set-up.
- I don't think we could get a better pair to do this and goalkeepers are often forgotten.

Finally. The image in the middle was taken in August 2003. Sean Fogarty is a 6 year old boy in the bottom right corner of that squad on their first ever game for Corduff FC. The lad did well for himself and we're delighted to see one of our own come full circle and help the next batch of goalkeepers. 🧤⚽️

We have three sides who would welcome a goalkeeper in to their squad. Interested keepers would receive dedicated goalkeeper training every week by one of the best goalkeeping coaches in the country on the new 5G Synthetic pitch.

Corduff Under 12 B were in pre-season action this morning at Corduff Sports centre against local neighbours, Verona.

The game ended up 2-2 in a well contested game between two hard working sides.

Credit to both teams, coaches and parents on a great game.

June 30th 2007, and Stephanie Troy becomes the first player to get to try out a ball on the newly laid all-weather pitch at Corduff Sports centre.

Fast forward 19 years and this week should see, all going well, the opening of the new 5G Synthetic FIFA approved pitch. A pitch that is nearly double the size of the old pitch in terms of width and length.

Just in time for winter training and some matches each weekend but also Friday night football under the lights. ⚽️
