A HUGE THANKS to Tulfarris Hotel and Golf Resort for kindly providing the luxurious Manor Lounge to Blessington AFC U14 & U16 Girls Teams to host a watch party 🥳 yesterday evening for the Women’s National Team World Cup Qualifier Semi-final: Ireland 🇮🇪 V Kazakhstan 🇰🇿

It was an evening of buzz & excitement as the 32 girls celebrated the 4 goals 🙌 which followed bringing home a win for the Republic of Ireland 👏

A massive shoutout to all the staff who looked after us 💐 especially Aisling who was amazing. We are so grateful for the generousity, excellent service and local support for the girls ⚽️

It marked the final outing for the fabulous Treacy Staunton 🏆, Sean Crompton 🏆 & Brian McCabe🏆 Cups before they are returned to DDSL to be recirculated next year. The girls gathered on the steps of the impressive Manor House for one final proud picture 📸 marking the end of a wonderful evening of team bonding 🔗

Blessington U11.5 Girls | Match Report

Blessington U11.5 girls received a warm welcome from this morning for a fantastic morning of football. With warm sunshine, beautiful pitches and the stunning Irish Sea as a backdrop, it was a lovely setting for both teams and spectators to enjoy the game.

The Blessington girls got off to a flying start, finding the net within the opening five minutes! They worked tirelessly across the pitch, matching a very strong Portmarnock side and scoring three excellent goals along the way.

However, the home side found another gear in the second half, taking control of the game and maintaining their advantage through to the final whistle.

A big thank you to Portmarnock FC for hosting us and to their girls for their sporting spirit and graciousness in victory. 👏

Well done to all the girls on a great morning of football! 💚🤍

Monread FC 3-3 Blessington FC
(Senior Sunday-League)

Brilliant game of end to end ball played at a very quick tempo throughout. The home side were quicker out of the blocks and had the better of early exchanges but they found themselves 1 down on 24 minutes when Aidan's high pass to Cian who made no mistake from just inside the box.

The home side finished the half strong and goals in 44 and 45 minutes from O Thompson and Nathan Maher saw them go into break 2-1 up.

On 65 minutes Blessington were level when Sean's header found Cian in again and a bullet volley gave the keeper no chance.

The game was still frantic with both teams going for it and on 78 minutes a Monread corner fell kindly to Ryan O'Connor who made it 3-2 for the home side.

The game looked to be heading for a home win but Blessington never stopped trying and they got their reward on 92 minutes when Sean McCrudden's crossed the ball to Cian whose goal bound effort was brilliantly saved by the keeper but Sean O'B was in the right place at the right time to pounce on the loose ball and grab a share of the points.

Hugely entertaining game.

Away to Greystones FC next Friday night is our next game in the League.
