Dissapointment for Pat Loughrey's Bayswater City who lost 3-2 against his former club Fremantle City in the NPL State Cup Final on Saturday in Perth.

Loughrey will be back in action this Friday night in the Top 4 Cup semi-final against Olympic Kingsway.

The home side produced an excellent all round performance to record a well deserved victory with Christopher McKinley turning in a superb man of the match performance. Redcastle started the brighter of the two with Shay Sweeney on the left sending a long range effort just over the bar. Alan Clarke then tried his luck but Hayden Boyle in the home goal reacted superbly to tip the ball over the bar. The hearts responded and a superb Jack McGeough cross was cleared behind for a corner and from that Ronan Mahon finished superbly from close range to open the scoring. Redcastle replied and when Sweeney advanced into the area Jerry Gill produced an excellent block to deny him. The home side got on top at this stage and when Cillian Hegarty crossed Ethan Soal made it two nil with a superb header. McGeough then delivered another dangerous cross which James Curran gathered well before Shane Dillon skimmed the bar with a thirty yards effort. At the other end Dillon produced a vital last ditch interception to deny Codi Forbes before Boyle again superbly tipped over Martin McCarrons effort. Redcastle went close again after a Gavin Grant free kick was cleared at the near post. Play swung back to the other end with McKinley cutting the ball back for Dylan Lynch who fired just over the top. After Redcastle had cleared another corner the ball fell to Jack Soal whose effort flew just over. Just before half time the visitors got back into the game with Grant unleashing a superb twenty five yards shot which gave Boyle no chance. Buncrana ended the half well with McKinley laying the ball to Ethan Soal who shot over before a jack Soal free was turned around the post by Curran.

The home side began the second half well with Dillon just failing to get on the end of a jack Soal free before Gill’s effort distance smashed off the crossbar. Good work then from McKinley set up Soal but Curran saved well. However from the resultant corner Jack Soals delivery found Cillian Hegarty who rose high to brilliantly head home. Another superb burst from McKinley on the right hand side saw his cross powerfully headed home by Mahon for his second and his sides fourth goal. The visitors got a goal back then on 82 minutes when Sweeneys cross came off an unfortunate defender and into the net.The home side saw out the remainder of the gamefor an excellent victory.
