Chronic hip & groin pain was keeping Eli size off the footy pitch.

It was even starting to affect him in his day to day life.

Not being able to train and play left him feeling isolated on the sidelines as the rest of his team continued to mount a competitive campaign without him.

And in order to treat the issue he’d been given the traditional rehab exercises.

Clamshells
Glute bridges
Copenhagen planks

No one had actually ever assessed how he moved on the field of play.

No one had identified what specific deficits he needed to address.

No one had brought him through a graded return to play process on the field.

No one had attempted to actually improve his linear sprint and change of direction mechanics.

Until we came in.

And that proved to be all the difference as he successfully got back into team training and full match-play.

He finished the season off in a better position than he was previously.

And that’s got to be the goal with any rehab process from a chronic issue.

To get results you’ve never got before, you need to do something differently than you’ve ever done it.

Assess
Identify
Address
Execute

A simple process implemented consistently.

We don’t seek to find one magic key to unlock every lock.

We simply seek to identify areas of restriction or underdevelopment…

And then we treat them.

All with the goal of improving
- Tolerance for loading
- Movement efficiency on the pitch

In order to improve

- Tolerance for training & match-play
&
- Effectiveness on the pitch

No magic bullet.

Just simple principles applied with high intent and pushed to intensity.

Progress session by session.

And focus on developing the athlete rather than treating the injury.

Four stages. One framework.

Isolate, Integrate, Intensify, Improvise. In this solo episode I walk through how rehab and return to play can be structured, using an ACL as the example.

What’s covered:
- What each stage is for and why the order matters
- Why moving well isn’t the whole story
- Preparing for the unpredictable before returning to sport

Two days before his county final, Conor Harris - Public Speaker | Mentor | tore his ACL.

On December 6th 2025, he went in for surgery.

From the outset, his goal was to return to playing football in 2026.

He was told it was impossible.

But he didn’t let anyone else put limits on his own journey.

However, in order to beat the odds he couldn’t just focus on getting back on the pitch.

He had to return as a better athlete than before.

That meant developing his strength, speed, conditioning and confidence throughout rehab.

At 7.5 months post-op, he sprinted at 9 m/s.

A higher speed than he’d ever hit before.

And just under 10 months after surgery, he came off the bench for his club, kicked a point and helped them to win a league final.

But we’re proud of Conor not just for his development through the process from a physical perspective.

He used the rehab process as an opportunity to grow on a personal level too.

We’ve had the privilege of getting a first hand view of his journey.

He’s no longer thinking about things in terms of black or white, good or bad.

He’s now learned to be more comfortable living in the grey when it comes to improving his performance!

Because recovering from an ACL injury isn’t a straightforward process.

There are usually many setbacks, a lot of uncertainty and periods where progress feels a lot slower than you’d like.

Learning to manage those periods is every bit as important as celebrating the milestones.

Conor & Mitch Scott | MEO Physio & Performance Rehab absolutely smashed this rehab at every single step.

And now Conor is back on the field, as confident as ever and ready to absolutely smash the off-season over the winter.

We’re just getting started!

Season 2027 isn’t going to know what hit it 💪
