THE JOURNEY: every January I set myself a goal that pushes me outside my comfort zones. This year I decided on a physical & mental challenge . To do a photoshoot! (Which ended up competing in a bodybuilding show🤦🏻‍♀️). Im a fairly private person & don’t like being in the public eye . Photoshoot was for me & up to now have only shared with my close circle. .Even posting this is cringe for me. But people asked & I hope that it shows at any age , if you really set your mind to something, you can achieve it.
I chose to work with as she was the only person I felt I could trust in this process. She’s a Professional Bodybuilder & a leader in her sport being the 1st Irish female bodybuilder to qualify for Mr Olympian in Las Vegas (competing October this year💪🏼). And I knew with the experience & expertise Jess brought that I would give myself the best chance possible to succeed. Using the specialised equipment .fitness for my training ensured the best results possible. & it helped so much having an amazing support network around me.
As we approached the photoshoot Jess encouraged me to consider competing. I travelled to Belfast to do the shoot & by god was it worth every penny and trek up. is awesome, directing me in poses (which I hadn’t a clue what I was doing) & he was awesome.
Even though I had booked a 3day holiday after the shoot. Jess was confident and assured me that I would be ready to compete
21days later! So we started posing training, check-ins daily and got stage worthy.
I was honoured to share the stage with such amazing athletes of all ages.
Doing all this 3wks shy of my 52nd birthday, I didn’t feel out of place.
Set your goal , set your mind, choose the right people in your corner and don’t falter !! 💪🏼
Thank you to all my Amazing friends & family who supported me on this journey. You know who you are.🥰🥰🥰

What an absolutely fantastic few days . Never cold have imagined the emotions. Excitement nerves , anxiety , excitement , elation & everything in between … Huge thank you to everyone who helped make this happen. Unexpectedly winning medals in every class I entered. 4 x silver & 1 x Gold. Without this amazing woman … an absolute legend. It would not have been possible. Such a professional, (with. Personal touch) with experience 2nd to none. She went above and beyond for me on this prep and I can’t thank her enough. & without the awesome equipment .fitness I don’t think the results would have been possible. I am so lucky to have such unwavering support from family and friends which helped made this possible 🥰 I made some beautiful new friends including the newly crowned champ & .

My reason behind this post is just sometimes I take something to heart & it upsets me …. & just need reminding.. . I don’t post much about what I do/work at as I feel everyone has their own journey in life and destiny is carved by our personal choices. & if destiny leads us to be part of each others lives it’s going to be bloody fantastic 💪🏼. At times we can read something & think “that’s like me” .. just remember YOU are YOU. Uniquely beautiful 😍.. everything is in front of you -you can be content , happy , sad or somewhere in between. Once you’re ok with where you are. & if not , we can adapt & change what we do & think to help us be ok with where we are. We are simply AMAZING humans. Keep enjoying today & looking forward to tomorrow. Be fantastic , be you. 🥰🥰. Can’t wait to see where destiny takes me next & who will be part of it. 🥰💪🏼

My new qualification
“Stretch Coach” . I must say a really enjoyed this course. Science of Stretching approach is beneficial to increasing flexibility & mobility. Using Time under passive stretching & breathing techniques to help switch off the reflex signals that keep the muscles tense. Integrating mind, body, breath movement & nervous system balance.

My selfish reasons for doing this course : I LOVE to train (any type of training) but until recent years stretching and mobility were more of a rehab necessity . I now know from including it as part of my training that mobility and flexibility are so important to everything. The better you move the better you feel and every day tasks are so much easier, and performance in sport and training is improved and reduced risk of injury.
Science of Stretching® fundamentals:

-Long-hold poses are essential to turn off your stretch reflex and gently lengthen your soft tissues while disengaged
-Nose-to-mouth breathing with a 1:1 or 1:2 ratio down-regulates your nervous system and allows your body to soften
