A tough afternoon for the lads as we come away from Castleknock Celtic on the wrong side of a 3–1 scoreline.

The boys battled right to the end and gave everything, but Castleknock were clinical when their chances came.

Lots to take from the game, lots to work on — and plenty more football to come. 💪⚽

Youth Girls | Match Report

DBGFC 0–1 St John Bosco

Our Youth Girls got their league campaign underway this morning at Marley’s Lane, welcoming St John Bosco in their opening fixture of the season.

It was a tough, physical contest, but our girls showed plenty of composure and confidence, controlling large spells of the game with some excellent possession and really impressive combination play.

Four players made their competitive debuts in the DBGFC jersey — Vanessa Byrne, Lily McBride, Tess Anderson and Sarah Larrissey — and all four put in excellent performances. 👏

The sides went into the break level at 0–0, with DBGFC creating opportunities and looking increasingly dangerous as the game progressed.

Midway through the second half, Bosco capitalised on a rare DBGFC mistake against the run of play to take a 1–0 lead.

Our girls responded brilliantly, dominating the remainder of the game and throwing everything at finding an equaliser. Wave after wave of pressure, excellent passing and attacking play saw DBGFC come agonisingly close, but the goal just wouldn’t come.

The final whistle saw St John Bosco leave Marley’s Lane with a 0–1 victory, but there were plenty of positives to take from a performance that deserved far more.

A fantastic effort from the girls — the result may not have gone our way, but the performance gives us plenty to build on. 💪⚽️

🔥🔴🔵 WHAT A WAY TO START AT U14 MAJOR! 🔵🔴🔥

Drogheda Boys 3–2 Corduff FC

What a game! 👏⚽️

After both sides earned promotion last season, this was always going to be a tough test — and it delivered in dramatic fashion!
Drogheda started brilliantly, with Fionn Farrelly reacting quickest after his saved penalty to give us the lead.

Corduff hit back with two goals before half-time, leaving the boys 2–1 down at the break.

But the response was superb.

A fantastic free-kick from Pádraig Murphy brought us level at 2–2, setting up a tense finish.

Then, with virtually the last kick of the game, came the moment everyone will remember! 😱🔥

Following a brilliant tackle from Rian McCann, Senan Lynch launched the ball forward for Fionn to chase.
Fionn got in behind the Corduff defence, raced towards goal and, with the goalkeeper charging off his line, produced an exquisite touch to flick the ball over the advancing keeper and into the net!

3–2 DROGHEDA!!! 🚨🔥🔴🔵
The whistle went almost immediately afterwards!
A brilliant comeback, an incredible finish and three massive points.

Huge credit to the entire squad for the character, resilience and belief they showed to turn the game around. 💪👏

The 13.1 Saturday team got their league campaign underway with a short trip to Donacarney Celtic.

It was a tough first half for the lads, with the home side starting quickly and a number of long-range efforts, along with a well-taken free kick, seeing Donacarney go into the break 5–0 ahead.

The lads regrouped at half-time, made some tactical changes and came out with a completely different attitude in the second half. 💪

A much stronger defensive display, better organisation and plenty of fight saw DBGFC win the second half, with Kyle Corrigan getting on the scoresheet to make it 5–1.

A difficult opening 30 minutes, but a much-improved second half gives the lads plenty to build on. ⚽
