U12 LGF Report
A huge well done to our U12 girls tonight ๐ด๐
The girls put in a fantastic performance, showing great skill, determination and teamwork throughout the game. From the first whistle to the last, they worked hard for one another and never gave up, competing brilliantly in every area of the pitch.
While the result didnโt quite go our way, there were so many positives to take from the match. The girls continue to improve every week, and their confidence, passing and work rate were excellent to see.
A special thank you to referee Ciara OโBrien for officiating the game. It was a very well-managed match, allowing the girls to play and enjoy their football.
Well done to all the players, coaches and supporters who encouraged the team throughout.
U14 LGFA Match Report โ Castlemartyr vs Mayfield
Castlemartyr's U14 girls got their league campaign off to a fantastic start with a thrilling victory over Mayfield in a game that kept everyone on the edge of their seats until the final whistle.
Playing into the sun in the first half made conditions difficult, but Castlemartyr settled well and worked hard to put scores on the board. Mayfield responded strongly with a goal and several points of their own, ensuring the game remained a closely fought contest throughout. Both teams battled relentlessly all over the field, with neither side willing to give an inch. The defences on both sides worked tirelessly, leaving the teams level at half-time.
With the wind in their favour after the break, Castlemartyr looked to push on, but Mayfield's defence stood firm and made every score hard earned. Castlemartyr managed to add two more points, only for Mayfield to answer with two of their own. The back line was outstanding throughout, repeatedly breaking up attacks and keeping the game within reach. Our midfielders covered every blade of grass, working tirelessly from one end of the pitch to the other and driving the team forward at every opportunity.
Trailing by a point in the closing minutes, the girls showed tremendous determination and character. The forwards never gave up and their persistence paid off when they found the net for a dramatic late goal that secured a memorable victory.
This was an excellent first outing for the U14 squad and a great example of the teamwork, spirit and determination that this group possesses.
A huge thank you to Donal, Zita, Niall and Sinรฉad for all their hard work and dedication, and to all the parents for their continued support. Your encouragement and commitment play a huge role in helping these girls develop and achieve their potential.
Well done to all the players on a brilliant team performance! ๐๐
