Wednesday Track Session 29th July

This week we are moving on to 1200s, three laps of the track. As we go to longer intervals the sessions get a little more difficult. For anyone going long, half ironman, full or the Lost Sheep the longer interval sessions are key. As usual, try to keep the session even across the 4 intervals and within each interval even pace across the the three laps....

Wednesday Track Session 22nd July

We are back on the track again this week for a session of 800s. After our brief excursion to the Farm last week we should be back on firmer surface. The weather will be a little cooler but still perfect for a track session. The plan is to do a session of 6 x 800m. The groups have been working out really well over the last few weeks with people seeding themselves properly in one or other of the three groups....

Wednesday Run 15th July UCC Farm

Hi Folks, afraid we have been told that the UCC Track at the Mardyke is unavailable to us this week again 😦 so as an alternative we will go to the UCC Playing Fields on the Curraheen Road. The track is unavailable because there is an international hockey tournament ongoing and the last match of the day won't be finished before our session was due to start....

Hi All, Unfortunately we have to cancel the track session for this week. We have just got notice from UCC that the track contractors have to come back to correct some defects that have been discovered. The track will be unavailable during this time. Hopefully we will be back next week as normal, apologies for the short notice.

Wednesday Track Session 1st July

A good session last week in the heat, it will be a good bit cooler this week but hopefully dry. Going to go for 1600s this week. If done properly this is a tough session but it is a great conditioner particularly for anyone going longish. As with other weeks we are in the middle of the race season, many people will have done either Blackwater or Wicklow last weekend and this coming weekend we have Hell of the West and the Youghal races....

Looks like it will be a warm evening on Wednesday so bring your water bottle. It's back to 800s this week, 6 x 800m with 400m easy recovery jog. Session Easy warm up Dynamic stretch Strides 6 x 800m with 400m easy recovery jog Cool down Usual arrangements, session starts at 7:00pm on the track in the UCC Sports Complex on the Mardyke.
