The species of the week this week is… the spiny starfish! ⭐️

Our touch tanks are filled with many spiny starfish that you can hold and interact with!

🦈 Exciting news! Our lesser-spotted catshark (dogfish) eggs are developing incredibly with two baby sharks growing inside! 💙

These eggs were laid by our former resident, Georgina, who has now been safely returned to the wild. Once the baby sharks are further developed, they'll be placed back into the ocean in a safe location, giving them the best possible start in life once they hatch 🌊

Did you know? Female dogfish can lay up to 115 eggs a year, and the babies can take 5–11 months to hatch! They are also known as "mermaids purses", with empty ones commonly found washed up on the beach 🧜

Why not come and see these amazing eggs for yourself? 🐟 We recommend booking online in advance, as some days fill up quickly.

Our two sharks, Georgina & Sharkie (lesser-spotted catsharks also known as dogfish!) have safely returned home to the ocean after their holiday with us. 🌊💙
