UCC Judo Club is one of the oldest and most adaptable clubs in UCC. Judo is 'the gentle way' to overcome opponents and has been slowly increasing popularity in recent years but it will always remember its founder Jigaro Kano.

A fantastic couple of weeks for past few weeks for UCC Judo club! ๐ฅโจโ ๏ธ
Our team brought home 10 medals from the West of Ireland Open in Galway and 8 medals from the North West Open in Derry โ plus a perfect kata result!

This weekend, a group of our dedicated judokas (Laura Cerncec, Ashik Rahman & TJ Palmer - medical officer Kevin liu - Former UCC Women's Champ Soraya Vazifehshenas whose hosting them) will step onto the international stage as they represent University College Cork at the prestigious Internal Judo Tournament Venray in the Netherlands! ๐๐ฅ
Competing against some of the best from across Europe, our athletes are not just fighting for personal success โ they're proudly wearing the UCC colours and flying the flag for our club, our university, and Irish student judo. ๐ฎ๐ช๐

๐๐ฅ Big congratulations to Ashik Rahman who achieved his 1st Dan at the last Dan Grading. He now is 1 of only 3 judoka who began judo in UCC to reach this milestone within their academic cycle, achieving this at a record pace of under 3 years!
He will now go on to compete in the Dutch Open this weekend with the team representing the college in the u66kg category.

Inter-Varsities 2024 โ

We had a BIG representation at the Intervarsities over the weekend!
Our team of 18 travelled the ENTIRE length of the country to Derry to compete in a mixture of novice, advanced, individual and team events.
The long bus journey did not stop us as we went on to win a haul of over 20 medals.
We took home 3 Gold medals, 8 Silver and 10 Bronze, including the "Male Player of the day" award, silver in the Women's Team event and bronze in the Men's Team event.
Thanks to for hosting a brilliant competition for all levels.
Well done people, very proud
