Monkstown Golf Club The club is also honoured to serve as the host venue for the 115th Irish PGA Championship The Castle has recently been tastefully restored to its former glory.

Monkstown is recognised among Ireland’s Top 100 golf courses recipient Golfers Guide to Ireland award for Best Munster Parkland Golf Course in both 2023 and 2026. Monkstown Golf Club rejoices in its distinguished history and its unique setting overlooking Cork’s glorious harbour. The Club celebrated its centenary in 2008 and has hosted many Golfing Union of Ireland and Irish Ladies Golf Union events throughout its history. The antiquity of the site is evoked by the old Castle which dates back to 1636 and was the Clubhouse until 1971. It is fitting that the outline should form the crest of the Club since its inception in 1908.

Well done to Donal McDonnell, who had a hole-in-one on the 13th at Monkstown today. His seven iron landed just past the flag, spun back and disappeared .

It’s Donal’s fourth hole-in-one and, we’re told, possibly his first in a singles competition. Great shot, Donal! Keep up the great golf!

Well done to all the Juvenile Girls competing for Captain Emer’s Prize! It was wonderful to see so many on the course and after a very tight match, Cadhla McDonnell won the Perpetual Trophy donated by the Moran Family in Memory of Marie Moran.

Well done to our Monkstown ladies, who came through a great match against Muskerry Golf Club at Monkstown this afternoon to book their place in the final of the Cork Ladies’ Four Club Foursomes.

They will face our near neighbours, Douglas Golf Club, next Monday in what promises to be another great day of golf.

After a few early morning showers, the sun came out at Monkstown for President John Murphy’s Prize to the Ladies.

There were a few more showers to contend with throughout the day, but they did nothing to dampen the atmosphere and great occasion around the club. A lovely day enjoyed by all.
