Over the past few weeks I, on behalf of the IBTA, have been engaging with The Step Up for Dance initiative. While we recognise that needs may differ in some respects across the various genres, all our voices must be part of the wider conversation. Regulation of our industry has always been something the Irish Ballet Teachers Association has advocated for. Change doesn’t happen overnight and important work takes time but the seeds have been sown. Being involved in the wider conversation, engaging with Government and ensuring that the experiences and needs of our sector are heard is essential if we are to help shape a positive and meaningful future for dance in Ireland. The conversation matters, our voices matter and our industry matters.

The most beautiful soul has left us. I am heartbroken to hear of the sad passing of Elmarie. She was truly one of a kind, generous, encouraging, knowledgeable, funny and an absolute joy to speak with. Her support, kindness and encouragement to all of us in the arts community was incredible. She believed in people, championed the arts and always made you feel valued.
She fought her illness with such bravery and dignity. I will forever admire her strength and spirit.
My heart goes out to her precious Conor and all her family and her colleagues at 96fm and to all the teachers and pupils in Gurrane National School.
Elmarie will be missed by us all but her warmth, her magnificent velvety voice and her beautiful spirit will stay with us forever.
May her gentle soul rest in peace 🥀

Today we are 17 ✨✨✨✨✨ CSD would not be the school it is today without the incredible people who have been part of our story. Huge thank you to all our wonderful teachers, past pupils, current pupils and their families. Your support, dedication, loyalty and commitment have helped make Cork School of Dance the very special school it is today. To everyone who has ben associated with the school over the past 17 years, whether you danced for a year, several years or are still with us 17 years later- thank you- you are all part of our story and dance family.
Here’s to 17 years of friendship, memories, laughter, hard work, performances and most importantly a love of dance. Roll on the next chapter.

Let the dream begin 🩵 very soon we will be welcoming our littlest dancers to the school for our specially designed Pre School class. In our pre-school classes, we take the children on a magical journey through imagination and storytelling using a variety of music and early learning props. Our teachers have vast experience working with this very special age group and can’t wait to welcome our littlest of students, encouraging and nurturing them through their first enchanting ballet steps. Important social skills, motor skills and very importantly new friendships will be made.
