5 things I learned from my … 😂🏃♂️
1️⃣ Maybe… just maybe… check how many goals are usually scored at a World Cup BEFORE promising to run 1km per goal.
Apparently “it’ll only be around 150km” was based on absolutely no research whatsoever. 😂
2️⃣ Footballers love scoring when you’re the one paying for it with your legs.
A boring 0-0? Not much this tournament.
A casual 6-4? Of course. Thanks lads. 👍
3️⃣ Preparation isn’t just for football teams.
Turns out deciding to run hundreds of kilometres on the back of an idea you came up with in five minutes isn’t peak sports science.
4️⃣ Your body will complain… but your mind will surprise you.
There were days I questioned my life choices, but every kilometre was worth it knowing it was raising money for Cork City Hospitals Children’s Club. ❤️
5️⃣ I’d absolutely do it again…
…is exactly what I won’t be saying until I’ve forgotten how much my legs hurt. 😅
From what started as “this sounds like a good idea”… to 288km later…and still more to go❗️
Thanks to everyone who donated, shared posts, cheered me on, beeped the horn, or asked me if I’d lost the plot. You’re all helping me get to the finish line but you still have time to donate ❤️⚽

A special thanks to Brendan and all at Castlemartyr Resort for all the help in planning the preseason trip for Wrexham AFC Women’s 🙌🏻
The week included 2 games sponsored by Castlemartyr Resort against Cork City FC Women’s first team which included 9 of our WU17s squad in the game and the second game was a mix of our WU23s & WU17s squads ⚽️
Not only did Wrexham stay at Castlemartyr Resort and have every inch of what they needed for the trip looked after but Brendan and his team went above in beyond helping them plan team building events outside of the resort also 👏🏻
I can not thank Brendan enough as his help and support also shows his support to the growth of the women’s game in Cork and we hope to continue this relationship ⚽️
If you would like to also support the growth of the women’s game in Cork please get in touch 🙌🏻

Sometimes the toughest part of a challenge isn’t starting… it’s knowing when you have to stop.
I should of been waking up this morning going for my second last run of the challenge but unfortunately yesterday playing a pub soccer tournament, I felt a pop at the back of my calf. Continuing to run right now is not possible.
That means my World Cup Running Challenge is on pause.
Every goal scored at the World Cup was meant to mean another kilometre on the road in support of CorkCityHospitalsChildrensClub . I hate having to step away before reaching the finish line, but recovery has to come first.
This isn’t the end of the challenge—it’s just an unexpected hydration break. As soon as I’m fit, I’ll be back to complete every remaining kilometre and finish what I started.
Thank you to everyone who has supported me, donated, shared my posts, and kept me going over the past few weeks. Your encouragement has meant everything, and I hope you’ll continue to support the challenge till it is completed.
If you’d still like to support the fundraiser while I recover, every donation continues to make a real difference for the children and families supported by Cork City Hospitals Children’s Club.
I’ll keep you updated on my recovery, and I promise… I’ll be back. 💙
