To say we are disappointed is an understatement. Not for the first time Riverside U13 girls faced Dunmanway Town. Captained by Ria McCarthy , this time the stakes couldn’t have been higher. The West Cork Cup was on the line.

Played in sweltering heat, the girls gave absolutely everything from the first whistle to the last. A first half goal from Ella Murray put Riverside ahead. Dunmanway Town responded with an equaliser before the break , setting up a tense second half.

Our girls battled tirelessly showing great teamwork . Dunmanway found a second goal and unfortunately time ran out before we could mount the comeback our performance deserved.

The stadium at MTU proved an incredible setting for the final and provided an experience the girls will never forget. They represented Riverside with pride, passion and sportsmanship.

Congratulations to Dunmanway Town on lifting the Cup and for a competitive and entertaining final.

To our players, hold your heads high. We could not be prouder of every single one of you. You have given your club so many moments and today’s result does not define you. It is just another step in your soccer journey .

A huge thank you to the coaches and also to the parents and families who show up , travel, cheer the girls on and stand behind them every step of their journey.

The defeat will hurt today but it won’t hold this team back. Our u13 girls have shown time and time again what they are capable of.

Well done girls . The entire Riverside community is incredible proud of you.
