Another full weekend of action for the club this weekend with both teams in action.

First up we have our Premier team looking to bounce back from last week after feeling they left one after them heading to whitechurch to face an upcoming Waterloo side in what will be a difficult task but one they will be well up for and look to put things back on track with kick off in whitechurch is 2pm tomorrow.

Then on Sunday our Junior side are at home to Rathcoole in the first round of the Munster Junior Shield looking to build on last weeks impressive win and build some momentum for the weeks ahead kick off in ONeill Park is 11am.

Make sure to support the lads and best off luck to both sets of players and management teams.

Grattan B 3 v 0 Blackpool Celtic.

A great result and performance from our juniors this morning against high flying Blackpool in o neill park.
An absolutely brilliant team effort and huge shift put in by all players and some very good goals scored with the pick off the bunch by gary coughlan to put us 1up after some great play by duggie down the wing a fine strike by gary.

Shane clarke then got our second with a fine effort after great play by gary down the wing who then squared it into hes path and finished cooley.

The management will take some credit 😁 for the 3rd as inspired substitution bringing ciaran on and with hes first touch flicked in a corner from Shane.

Credit to Blackpool they never gave up and put the pressure on for the last 20mins but the boys were outstanding at the back marshelled brilliantly by babbsy ,harris ,scott and Jimmy with don and Ritchie putting the hard yards in in midfield.

Also all the subs tht came in were outstanding and didn't leave anything behind in the game a great shift lads.

A special mention also to nigel who was called on to go in goal after injury to razor not long into the game.
Once again the crazy monk wasnt found wanting as always.

This weekends action see's our First team travel to Ballyanly tomorrow afternoon to take on early table toppers Strand A in what is sure to be an exciting game .

While on Sunday morning our second team take on high flying Blackpool Celtic in O'Neil park which is sure to be another exciting contest between these sides.

A busy weekend of action ahead for the club with both teams playing at home .

First up the A team are playing Springfield on Saturday at 2pm .

While our B team will follow tht up on the Sunday morning at home to Hibs 11am kick off.

With both teams starting with 2-2 draws both will be looking to get their first 3points of the season.

Match report.

Grattan B 2 - 2 Bweeng.

Goalscorers: Ritchie and Shane.

A point shared last night in what was a good contest overall and the lads can feel proud of the football the played at times against a good bweeng side.
The game started with grattan dominating the possession but with bweeng been dangerous on the counter attack.
And true to tht after a couple of chances going a miss for us bweeng struck to go 1 up with a nice taken goal.
The boys reacted brilliantly and were well on top playing lovely football and with a couple of shots going a miss they eventually got the equaliser with a superb conerkick floated into the back post by Marky Sull which was met with a thunderous header at the back post by Ritchie a great goal.
The second wasnt long coming for the gratts keeping up the pressure a great run down the wing by gary coughlan and lovely ball into the box for shane Clarke to finish brilliantly.
With not long left in the first half bweeng got there second when a shot from distance caught the Grattan keeper out 2all at half time.

While we bossed the first half the second half was alot more even with both sides threatening on the counter attack to get the winner .
Nigel on goal for grattan pulled off a couple of lovely saves while the bweeng keeper did the same for them from efforts by forde ,Jay leary and Shane Clarke again.

A point shared in the end for both teams and the lads can fell proud of the effort they put in with next to no preseason its great to see them back out on the pitch .

Well done lads .

Speedy recovery also to Danny and Darren who picked up nasty injuries last night .

Village 2-2 grattan
The first northside derby of the season didn’t disappoint but unfortunately we didn’t leave with all 3 points. After the first half stalemate where the village keeper saved a penalty the second sprung to life when village went one ahead. The boys grew more into the game and it wasn’t long before new boy Danny Donoughe grabbed a goal with a fine finish with his ‘weaker’ foot. Grattan pushed on and were rewarded when another summer signing Denna rose inside the box and guided his header into the bottom corner. It wasn’t to be tho as village were awarded a late penalty and converted it. With only minutes left Christy bullman seen his sublime effort ruled out for offside and the points were shared
