The only club that trains in a pub, UCC Darts are hoping to get started again in the coming weeks. If you or anyone you know attending UCC is interested please drop us an email or a message.

There will be a meet up of past members of UCC Darts Club from down through the years on Friday 22nd March at The New Bar, UCC (Now known as Hamish's Bar) from 8pm.

All past players, supporters and friends of the Club are welcome to attend to meet up and share the many stories from your time with the Darts Club.

We would also welcome any students currently in UCC who may have seen Luke Littler tear up the World Championships at Christmas and have a new found interest in Darts!! We'd be delighted to see the Darts Club back up and running and competing in the Cork Leagues so anyone in UCC with an interest is also welcome to attend and former members can help get it up and running.

CHAMPIONS!

Last Monday night saw UCC lift the CDPA Division 1 title and gain promotion to the organisation's Premier Division for next season. The team began the night with an impressive 3-1 semi-final victory over The Beergarden thanks to wins from John Fitzgerald, Aaron Ahern & Paddy Bullman. That 3-1 scoreline was then repeated in a brilliant final win over Coleman's with wins coming from Rian McSweeney, John Fitzgerald & Paddy Bullman.

These wins meant that UCC finished with 7 wins from 7 games in what was the team's debut season in Division 1 so a huge congratulations to all involved for such a brilliant achievement. We will return to the New Bar from 7pm tonight and the team will get their CDPA Macau Cup campaign underway in a derby game vs CIT from 9:30pm.

It has been a fantastic few weeks for the club and the team has qualified for tomorrow night's CDPA Division 1 league finals night. A 3-2 win over O' Driscolls a fortnight ago saw UCC end their league campaign as tabble toppers with a 100% record. Wins on the night came from Dave O' Brien, Paddy Bullman & Aaron Ahern.

There was also further success in the CDPA Division 1 Golden Arrows singles competition last Monday as club newcomer John Fitzgerald took the spoils in the 26 player field. John overcame his UCC teammate Paddy Bullman 3-2 in a fantastic final after Paddy had defeated fellow teammate Aaron Ahern in the semi-finals.

We will be back in the New Bar from 7pm tomorrow night before travelling to the Deanrock in an attempt to win promotion to the CDPA's Premier Division for next season.

Last Monday saw the team make it four 4-1 victories on the spin as they overcame difficult opponents in the form of The Beergarden (2). Wins on the night came from John Fitzgerald, Paddy Bullman, Aaron Ahern and Tiernan McHugh. This win means that UCC has qualified for the league finals night as the table toppers with a game to spare.

We are back in the New Bar this evening from 7pm onwards where an in-house tournament will be held before the team takes on O’ Driscoll’s in their final league game of the season at 9:30pm.

Last night saw UCC Darts make it a hat-trick of 4-1 wins for their CDPA Division 1 campaign with victory over a strong Darby Bar side. Wins on the night came from John Fitzgerald, Jack Maguire, David O' Brien and Paddy Bullman.

Preceding this Jack Maguire was the victor of our in-house knockout tournament as he saw off John Fitzgerald 2-1 in a quality final.

We'll be taking a break from in-house competition next week due to RAG Week but will return to the New Bar at 7pm on Monday 7th March!

UCC Darts continued their fantastic form last night as they replicated the 4-1 scoreline from last week's season opener in defeating Coleman's Bar. Wins on the night from John Fitzgerald, Jack Maguire, Aaron Ahern and Tiernan McHugh have the team sitting comfortably atop the CDPA Division 1 league having taken 8 out of a possible 10 points from their opening two games.

We will be back in the New Bar from 7pm next Monday before travelling to our away fixture against The Darby.

After a long 2 years, UCC Darts has finally returned to the New Bar for our usual 7pm slot on Mondays for the rest of the year! All new members are welcome and there will be plenty of events to enjoy throughout the semester.

Having gained promotion from Division 2 as league champions in Spring of 2020, the team began their CDPA Division 1 campaign last Monday night. In a tough fixture against Nana's it was to be a comfortable 4-1 victory for UCC with wins on the night coming from Rian McSweeney, John Fitzgerald, Aaron Ahern and Tiernan McHugh.

In addition, our mini in-house warm-up knockout tournament was won by club newcomer John Fitzgerald who took the spoils as he saw off David O' Brien 2-0 in a quality final.

Finally we would like to congratulate the team on the superb achievement of winning the CDPA Division 1 4 a-side tournament in the run up to Christmas as they saw off a strong Beer Garden side in the final.

Unfortunately UCC Darts has had to cancel planned in-house league nights for the next two weeks due to the current Coronavirus situation. Furthermore, all CDPA events have been postponed for the upcoming weeks. An update on all events concerning UCC Darts will be provided as soon as possible.

Last Monday night saw Week 13 of The UCC Darts Championship take place in the New Bar. Tiernan McHugh was the winner on the night having defeated Aaron Ahern in the final. Rian McSweeney & Jack Maguire were the beaten semi finalists.

We will be back in the New Bar tomorrow night for Week 14 at the usual 7pm. We look forward to then and seeing everyone back throwing again!

All at UCC Darts would like to congratulate Cork Youth Darts on their superb achievement of winning the Youth All-Ireland yesterday. UCC Darts have been the beneficiary of several past CYD talents over the years and no doubt we may be seeing more in the future once their time is up in the youth system. A massive well done to all involved and we hope everyone enjoys the celebrations!
